Ebersole takes title, St. Alties for 2nd in North State

[10/29/01]Alan Ebersole won the North State championship in the 200-yard individual medley and helped lead the St. Aloysius Flashes to a second-place team finish Saturday at Tupelo.

The Flashes, who had 13 top-10 finishes, eight top 5s and placed second in two relays, tied Madison Central for second with 302 points. Cleveland won the boys meet with 352 points, while Warren Central finished 13th and Vicksburg High was 16th out of 17 teams.

St. Al’s 200-yard freestyle relay team of Alan Ebersole, Allen Karel, Daniel Jourdan and Will Tomlinson broke the state record with a time of 1:36.04, but lost to Clinton (1:35.06).

All of St. Al’s swimmers have qualified for the state meet in Biloxi on Saturday.

WC’s Elena English posted two top-10 finishes in the girls’ meet as the Lady Vikes swam to an 11th-place finish, with 69 points. Tupelo won with 304 points, St. Al was 16th with 24, and VHS was 18th, with five points.
