R.L. CLARK

Services for R.L. Clark will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home with the Rev. Rudy Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Mr. Clark died Friday, Oct. 26, 2001, at ParkView Regional Medical Center. He was 89.

Born in Jefferson County, Mr. Clark was a retired logger. He was a member of Mount Carmel M.B. Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Roxianna Rogers Clark; a daughter, Sallie Mae Williams; his mother, Lula Willis; his father, Andrew Clark; and two sisters, Ida Kirkland and Mary Barnes.

Survivors include three sons, Samuel Clark, Johnnie Clark and Edmond Clark, all of Vicksburg; two daughters, Lillie Mae Flagg and Gloriastine Clark, both of Vicksburg; and 22 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren and other relatives including Georgia Baxter, and the England, Hall, Smith and Reynolds families, all of Vicksburg.

LOUANA COLLINS

MADISON Louana Collins died Monday, Oct. 29, 2001, at Community Nursing Home. She was 92.

A native of Scott County, Mrs. Collins was a former resident of Monroe, La., and had lived in Madison for the past few years.

She is survived by nieces and nephews including Mary Guerriero of Vicksburg.

Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Cedar Hill Cemetery under the direction of Wright and Ferguson Funeral Home.

ALVIN BROWN FIELDS

Alvin Brown Fields died Monday, Oct. 29, 2001, at ParkView Regional Medical Center. He was 76.

Mr. Fields operated Bear Camp Grocery Store in Valley Park for a number of years. He was a member of Travelers Rest M.B. Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie Fields and Viola Bankston; his adoptive parents, Johnie and Laura Brown; a son, Robert “Bobo” Earl; four brothers, Robert Bankston, Harry Bankston, Roosevelt Woods and Willie Sinclair McRavin; a sister, Thelma Jackson; and a grandson, Michael Rockhill Fields.

Survivors include his wife, Edna Mae Fields of Valley Park; his son, Michael Kenneth Fields of Valley Park; his daughter, Betty Brown Dykes of Houston, Texas; a sister, Valenia Morris of Chicago; and six grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and other relatives.

Dillon-Chisley Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.

JESSIE JOHNSON

Jessie Johnson died Saturday, Oct. 27, 2001, at ParkView Regional Medical Center. He was 46.

Mr. Johnson was a member of the Baptist faith.

He was preceded in death by his father, Will Johnson.

Survivors include his mother, Josephine Johnson Kenny of Vicksburg; four brothers, Leon Johnson of Dallas, James Johnson and Timothy L. Johnson, both of Vicksburg, and Cleotha Johnson of Jackson; six sisters, Loraine Miller of Jackson and Joyce M. Anderson, Edna Lee Williams, Olivia Hagan, Lee Virgia Johnson and Leanna Patterson, all of Vicksburg; and other relatives.

W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home has charge of the arrangements.

JOHN H. LAUDERDALE JR.

John H. “Bullie” Lauderdale Jr. died Monday, Oct. 29, 2001, at his home. He was 86.

A native and lifelong resident of Vicksburg, Mr. Lauderdale was the son of the late John H. and Mamie Jeene Lauderdale. He was a graduate of St. Aloysius College. He served in the U.S. Army in North Africa and Europe during World War II. He was a supervisor in motorpool at Waterways Experiment Station for over 37 years before retiring in 1977. He was a member of VFW Post 2572, Knights of Columbus and St. Michael Catholic Church.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley G. Lauderdale of Vicksburg; his brother, William “Bill” Lauderdale Sr. of Vicksburg; two nieces, Jane Lauderdale Flowers of Vicksburg and Chris Lauderdale Maloney of Madison; and two nephews, William F. “Bill” Lauderdale Jr. of Vicksburg and Joseph E. Lauderdale of Jackson.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Fisher-Riles Funeral Home with the Rev. Philip Aguh officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until the service Wednesday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Bill Lauderdale Jr., Don Flowers, Joe Lauderdale, Keith Flowers, John B. Lauderdale, Byron Flowers and Tom Maloney.

Memorials may be made to St. Michael Catholic Church, 100 St. Michael Place, Vicksburg, MS. 39180; or to St. Aloysius High School, 1900 Grove St., Vicksburg, Miss. 39180.
