UTICA Frances Yates Oleis died Thursday, Nov. 1, 2001, at her home in Utica. She was 73.
Born in Cayuga, Mrs. Oleis was the daughter of the late F.L. and Williena Bailey Yates. She and her husband owned and operated F&F Supermarket in Utica. She was the assistant librarian at the Utica branch of Hinds Community College public library. She was a member of Utica Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband, Fred J. Oleis of Utica; three sons, John Oleis and Mark Oleis, both of Franklin, Tenn., and Brett Oleis of Cleveland; her daughter, Cathy Hambright of Utica; two brothers, Fred Yates and Jerry Yates, both of Utica; two sisters, Mary Jane Cain and Helen Price, both of Utica; and seven grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Utica Baptist Church with the Rev. John Ed. Snell officiating. Burial will follow at Cayuga Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 until 8 tonight at Glenwood Funeral Home in Utica.
Pallbearers will be Woody Cook, Billy Womack, Daryl Baker, Dorsey Longmire, Albert McGuffie, Lamar Currie, Shelby Barlow and Dale Yates.
Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Paul Pierce and Dale Hood.
Memorials may be made to Cayuga Cemetery, 3043 Old Port Gibson Road, Utica, MS 39175.
Services for Jasper “Dee” Smith will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home with Dr. Michael Reed officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Mr. Smith died Monday, Oct. 29, 2001, at his home. He was 73.
He was a retired truck driver for Falco Lime and a member of Rock of Ages M.B. Church.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Williams.
He is survived by his wife, Leona Larkins Smith of Vicksburg; three daughters, Irene Turner, Betty Pierce and Keisha Smith, all of Vicksburg; four stepdaughters; and grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
