HARRIETTE GILMORE

PORT GIBSON Harriette Gilmore died Saturday, Nov. 3, 2001, at her home in Port Gibson. She was 55.

Mrs. Gilmore was a member and mother at Rose Hill Christian Church in Russum.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Phillip Gilmore; her father, Willie Jeff O’Quinn; and a sister, Katie Jean Gray-Stone.

Survivors include two daughters, Monica M. Gilmore-Love of Jackson and Shelia J. Gilmore of Port Gibson; her mother, Carzenia Lucy O’Quinn of Lorman; six brothers, Willie J. O’Quinn, Charles E. McDonald, Carl E. Bell, Napolean O’Quinn and Earl J. McDonald, all of Lorman, and Daniel O’Quinn of Plano, Texas; six sisters, Delois Burks, Dyann Harris and Cynthia O’Quinn-Smith, all of Fayette, Rosie L. Bell and Linda McDonald, both of Lorman, and Hazel Gibson of Inkster, Mich.; two grandchildren, Phillip Jordan-Love and Jaelon K. Love, both of Jackson; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.

Services will be at noon Saturday at Rose Hill Christian Church with Elder Walter Chambers officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.

Visitation will be from 1 until 5:30 p.m. at Thompson Funeral Home Inc. of Port Gibson with family hour until 6:30 and from 11 a.m. Saturday until the service at the church.

SAMUEL ROSS JR.

Samuel “Junior” Ross Jr. died Monday, Nov. 5, 2001, at Baylor University Hospital in Dallas. He was 23.

A former resident of Vicksburg, Mr. Ross worked as a security guard in Dallas.

He was preceded in death by grandparents, Cleveland Ross and Harry Burns.

He is survived by one son, Jerimiah Warren of Minneapolis, Minn.; three daughters, Aaliyah Ross and Ashley Ross, both of Jackson, and Justice Warren of Minneapolis; his mother, Jeannie Burns Ross of Jackson; his father, Samuel Ross Sr. of Vicksburg; two brothers, Larry Burns of Vicksburg and David Burns of Jackson; three sisters, Carolyn B. Dart of Vicksburg, Lisa Ross of Clinton and Jennell Ross of Garland, Texas; his paternal grandmother, Christine Buchanan of Vicksburg; and his maternal grandfather, Gary Burns of Vicksburg.

Services will be at noon Saturday at Word of Faith Christian Center with the Rev. Hubie Nelson officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery under the direction of W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home.

THELMA STORKS

PORT GIBSON Thelma Storks died Friday, Nov. 2, 2001, at ParkView Regional Medical Center. She was 85.

Mrs. Storks was a member and mother at Second Baptist Church. She was a member of the Baptist Aid.

She is survived by two sons, James White of Shreveport, La., and Bennie White of Rialto, Calif.; two daughters, Carolyn “Cossie” Thornton and Eva “Sissy” Washington, both of Port Gibson; two sisters, Ruby Keeps of Toledo, Ohio, and Mary Storks of Port Gibson; 12 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews; friends and other relatives.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Second Baptist Church of Port Gibson with the Rev. Leon Nelson officiating. Burial will follow at Springhill Baptist Church Cemetery under the direction of Thompson Funeral Home Inc. of Port Gibson.

Visitation will be from 1 until 6 p.m. Friday at the funeral home and from 10 a.m. Saturday until the service at the church.

JUDGE WRIGHT

Judge “Skeet” Wright died Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2001, at ParkView Regional Medical Center. He was 62.

Born in Vicksburg, Mr. Wright was a self-employed carpenter. He was a member of the Baptist faith.

He was preceded in death by his father, Shelby “Duke” Wright; his grandmother, Rosie Shuler Stevens; an aunt, Lizzie “Sweet” Gillmore; and an uncle, Robert “Bob” Robertson.

He is survived by his mother, Roberta R. Wright of Vicksburg; a son, Charles Wright of Vallejo, Calif.; a daughter, Percy Wright of Vallejo; five sisters, Rose Wright of Aurora, Ill., Barbara Wright, Roberta Linda Polk and Shappy Wright, all of Vicksburg, Rochella Lewis of Vacaville, Calif.; three grandchildren and other relatives including Gloria Hurston.
