Services for Ethel Lee Franklin Lassiter will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Mount Carmel Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Hickman Johnson officiating and the Rev. Henderson Fields Sr. as the eulogist. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 10 until 11 a.m. Saturday at the church. Family hour will be at 7 p.m. Friday at W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home.

Mrs. Lassiter died Sunday, Nov. 11, 2001, at Vicksburg Medical Center. She was 87.

She was a homemaker and retired nurse’s assistant. She was a graduate of Magnolia High School. She received her bachelor’s degree in religious education at the Mississippi Baptist Seminary. She was the director of Project Head Start Resource. She was a member of the Warren County Election Commission staff.

Mrs. Lassiter was board member of Warren County Women’s Association and Mount Carmel M.B. Church where she sang in the adult choir and was on the deaconess board. She was also a member of Bathsheba Grand Chapter No. 24 Order of Eastern Star.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Wright L. Lassiter Sr.; triplet sons, James Lassiter, Jan Lassiter and Jimmy Lassiter; her parents, Scott Franklin and Josephine Miles Franklin; and her sister, Carrie Franklin.

Survivors include six sons, Dr. Wright L. Lassiter Jr. of Dallas, Dr. Lewis L. Lassiter and the Rev. Alfred Lassiter Sr., both of Vicksburg, Albert E. Lassiter of Birmingham, Ala., Dr. Franklin L. Lassiter of Baton Rouge and Ralph B. Lassiter of Omaha, Neb.; three daughters, Mary Hughes Sills of Leland, Dr. Linda E. Lassiter of Baton Rouge and Dr. Ethel M. Lassiter of Vicksburg; three sisters, Roxie Anna Franklin and Elnora Wilcox, both of Vicksburg, and Mary Phillips of Ontario, Canada; 15 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and other relatives.

LOUISE FORTNER McDUFF

TALLULAH Louise Fortner McDuff died Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2001, at Summit Hospital in West Monroe. She was 89.

Born in Terry, Mrs. McDuff moved to Madison Parish in 1922 where her family were farmers and plantation owners for many years. She was employed by the State of Louisiana for 30 years in the Department of Welfare.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Buck McDuff.

She is survived by a stepson, Buck McDuff Jr. of Baton Rouge; two nieces, Jane Ronningen of Flat Rock, N.C., and Judith Croasdale of Richland, Mich.; and a great-nephew, James C. Fortner Jr. of Altanta.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Crothers-Glenwood Funeral Home in Tallulah with the Rev. John Rushing officiating. Burial will follow at Silver Cross Cemetery in Tallulah.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the service Friday at the funeral home.

DAVE WASHINGTON

Services for Dave Washington will be at 11 a.m. Friday at United Baptist Church with the Rev. W.C. Wallace officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Fitler.

Mr. Washington died Saturday, Nov. 10, 2001, at Vicksburg Convalescent Home. He was 92.

Mr. Washington was retired from Kuhn Hospital and was also a retired logger. He was a member of Calvary M.B. Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Edna Washington; his parents, Thomas and Fannie Washington; three brothers, George Washington, Tommy Washington and Fulton Washington; and two sisters, Ella Washington and Ruby Green.

Survivors include a niece, Alice Washington of Rolling Fork; three nephews, Howard Washington of Vicksburg, Tommy Washington of Belzoni and Quincy Washington of Rolling Fork; and other relatives, including Denise Washington of Rolling Fork.

W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.
