BERTHA L. WARREN HOWARD

Bertha L. Warren Howard died Thursday, Nov. 22, 2001, at Vicksburg Trace Haven Nursing Home. She was 89.

Mrs. Howard was a native of Bellville, Ark., and was reared in Newellton. She had lived in Vicksburg for 71 years. She graduated from Newellton High School and as a registered nurse from the Sisters of Mercy School of Nursing in Vicksburg. She worked at Mercy Hospital for 30 years.

She was a member of First Baptist Church and the Young Hearts Sunday school class.

Mrs. Howard was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas Jefferson and Mary Ruth Smith Warren; her husband, Will Henry Howard Jr.; two sisters, Edna Warren Miller and Mildred Dale Townsend; and two brothers, Robert Wesley Warren and Thomas Doyle Warren.

Survivors include three daughters, Glenda H. Normand of Vicksburg, Edna H. Richardson of Holly Springs and Billie H. Skinner of Clinton; a sister, Ruby Hendrickson of Marysville, Wash.; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews; and other relatives, including Jerry Normand and Marie Howard, both of Vicksburg.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Fisher-Riles Funeral Home with the Rev. Tom Townsend, Mrs. Howard’s nephew, officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be from noon Saturday until the service at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Stephen Skinner, David Normand, Danny Violet, Frank Skinner, Ben Hardy and Jim Farrell.

Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Daniel Edney and George Habeeb.

Memorials may be made to a favorite charity.

ALMA JONES WARNER

LORMAN Alma Jones Warner died Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2001, at her home in Lorman. She was 85.

A homemaker, Mrs. Warner was a native of Jefferson County. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church of Port Gibson. She was a member of the BB&S Society.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Cleve and Estella Jones; two sisters; five brothers; and a granddaughter.

Survivors include three sons, Walter Piazza of Harvey, La., Cleve Piazza of Port Gibson and Jimmy Jones of Houston, Texas; six daughters, Estelle P. Orcutt of Lorman, Alma P. Lobrano of Centreville, Susan P. Johnson of Chicago and Julia P. McQueen, Vincetine P. Acker and Linda P. Gardner, all of Harvey; a sister, Ida Taylor of Santee, Calif.; 20 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends, including Mattie Johnson of Lorman.

Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Port Gibson with the Rev. Robert Zawacki officiating. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 until 7:30 tonight at Rollins Funeral Home of Fayette with Rosary at 6:30.

Pallbearers will be Jack D. Lobrano Sr., Eddie Orcutt, J.D. Lobrano, E.J. McQueen, Wayne Johnson and Frank Gardner.

Honorary pallbearers will be Joe F. Thompson, Malcolm Walters Sr., Billy Orcutt, J.C. Allen, Dr. Lamar McMillian Jr. and Dr. Eugene Ferris.
