BEING CAREFUL

[11/27/01]U.S. Postal Service employee S.L. Caldwell of Vicksburg shuffles through a stack of letters after delivering mail to Leyland French’s residence at 1425 Harrison St. Monday. Caldwell, who has worked for the postal service in Vicksburg for more than 30 years, said he wears the mask and rubber gloves along his route as a precaution against contracting anthrax. Although he has not come across anything suspicious, Caldwell said, “You never know what’s going to happen.” Across the nation, five people have died from anthrax exposure since the terrorist attacks on Sept. 11, and some of the bacteria has been traced to post offices in the Northeast.(The Vicksburg Post/C.
