ROY PERKINS

UTICA Roy Perkins died Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2001, at the G.V. “Sonny” Montgomery Veterans Administration Hospital in Jackson. He was 82.

Mr. Perkins was a member and deacon at St. Paul M.B. Church in Utica. A veteran of World War II, he was a member of Baptist Aide and Rohelia Lodge No. 419.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Willie B. Perkins.

He is survived by three daughters, Helen Perkins and Margie Perkins, both of Utica, and Marilyn Wilson of Crystal Springs; a brother, Cornelius Jones of Vicksburg; two sisters, Annie Bell Neal of Vicksburg and Elsie Watson of Niagara Falls, N.Y.; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews; and other relatives and friends.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at St. Paul M.B. Church with the Rev. Charles Harper officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.

Visitation will be from 1 until 7 p.m. Friday at Thompson Funeral Home in Port Gibson and from noon Saturday until the service at the church.

LEONOUS SMITH

LORMAN Leonous Smith died Saturday, Dec. 1, 2001, at ParkView Regional Medical Center. He was 88.

A retired farmer, Mr. Smith was a member of East Mount Olive M.B. Church in Red Lick.

He is survived by his wife, Emma Jane Smith of Lorman; four sons, William McKinley Smith of Fayette, Leonous Smith Jr. of New Orleans and Kenneth Earl Smith and Robert Smith, both of Lorman; two daughters, Hester Mae Williams and Pearl Olivia Smith, both of Lorman; a sister, Mary Johnson of Los Angeles; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews; and other relatives and friends.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at East Mount Olive M.B. Church with the Rev. Isaac Henderson officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.

Visitation will be from 1 until 6 p.m. Friday at Thompson Funeral Home Inc. of Port Gibson and from 1 p.m. Saturday until the service at the church.

LEE ESTER WINTERS

CHICAGO Lee Ester Winters died Monday, Dec. 3, 2001, at Cook County Hospital in Chicago. She was 71.

A former resident of Vicksburg, Miss Winters was a resident of Chicago. She was a graduate of Rosa A. Temple and Vicksburg School of Nursing. She was a licensed practical nurse and retired in 1995 after 33 years of service. She was a former member of Travis Chapel A.M.E. Church in Vicksburg and a member of Faith Tabernacle in Chicago.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry Winters and Gertrude Major Winters.

Survivors include two daughters, Sherry Sykes of Allen, Texas, and Clarice Brown of Chicago; three brothers, Willie Winters of Vicksburg, Clarence Winters of Portland, Ore., and Volney Winters of Vacaville, Calif.; a sister, Walterine Wildee of Vicksburg; and three grandsons; and other relatives including Milton Brown Sr.
