JOANN COVERSON COOK

Joann Coverson Cook died today, Dec. 10, 2001, at ParkView Regional Medical Center. She was 64.

Mrs. Cook was a retired cook with BPOE Elks. She was a member of the Baptist faith.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Roosevelt Coverson and Etta Wilkerson.

She is survived by her husband, James Cook Sr. of Vicksburg; two sons, James Cook Jr. of Vicksburg and Johnny Cook of Minneapolis, Minn.; three daughters, Velma Erves of Dallas and Ora Cook and Peggy A. Cook, both of Vicksburg; and 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home has charge of the arrangements.

SHARON ANNETTE GOINGS

Sharon Annette Goings died Friday, Dec. 7, 2001, at ParkView Regional Medical Center. She was 43.

A native of Yazoo City, Mrs. Goings had lived in Vicksburg for 30 years. She was a homemaker and attended Solid Rock Pentecostal Church.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Wanda McBay; and two brothers, Marty Leach and Troy Leach.

Survivors include her husband, Newton Arnold Goings Sr. of Vicksburg; two sons, Newt Goings of Bastrop, La., and Stevie Goings of Vicksburg; her daughter, Jackie G. Rymer of Vicksburg; her parents, Malcolm and Ollie Mae O. Leach of Union; her brother, Darrell Leach of Vicksburg; five sisters, Rachel Glidwell of Ovette, Rita Birchfield, Darlene Arinder and Tammy Rayborn, all of Union, and Patricia McNess of Hattiesburg; and five grandchildren and other relatives, including Denise Goings of Bastrop and Tammy Goings and Alan Rymer, both of Vicksburg.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Fisher-Riles Funeral Home with the Rev. Billy J. Talbert, pastor of Solid Rock Pentecostal Church, officiating. Burial will follow at Green Acres Memorial Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 until 8 tonight at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Ray Goings, Mike Goings, Billy Goings, Tommy Ellis, Felton Townsend and Roy Arinder.

Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Murray P. Whitaker, Lester Pettway, Dr. John C. Williams and Bill Pettway.

CORAL BROWN WELLER

MADISON Coral Brown Weller died Sunday Dec. 9, 2001, at St. Catherine’s Village in Madison. She was 90.

Born in Hickory, Mrs. Weller was a long-time resident of Vicksburg and a resident of Madison for 10 years. She was a graduate of Mississippi State College for Women. She was a retired teacher at Grove Street Elementary School and Jett Elementary School. She was a member of Crawford Street United Methodist Church,

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harvill E. Weller Sr.

Survivors include her daughter, Mary Coral Weller Murphree of Huntsville, Ala.; her son, Harvill E. Weller Jr. of Houston, Texas; and five grandchildren.

Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the chapel of St. Catherine’s Village. Services will also be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Crawford Street United Methodist Church. Burial will follow at Green Acres Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Wright and Ferguson Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from noon until the service Tuesday at the church.
