City woman stabbed to death; boyfriend sought

[12/12/01] A Vicksburg woman was stabbed to death in her house Tuesday night, and police this morning were searching for a man identified as her boyfriend.

Cynthia Green, 24, apparently died in her house at 206 Meadow Lane, police spokesman Jamee Carter said. No motive had been established, she said.

Based on information from another woman in the house at the time of the attack, police were searching for Derrell Antonio Green, 27, 107 Elizabeth Circle, Carter said. The Greens are not related, she said

Derrell Green is identified as 5-foot-7, 175 pounds. He was believed to have been driving a 1999 green Kia with license plate number BHE 329, Carter said. Anyone with information on the crime may call Carter at 636-6393 or 636-2511.

Green had been stabbed once in the mid-to-upper back with an unknown weapon, Warren County Coroner John Thomason said.

The stabbing was reported to Vicksburg Police at 9:48 p.m. Tuesday from the Meadow Lane house, Carter said.

An autopsy was planned today at Mississippi Mortuary Services in Rankin County, and Williams Funeral Services was to handle arrangements, Thomason said.
