ELSON FORD DICKSON

CLEVELAND, Miss. Elson Ford Dickerson died Tuesday, Dec. 25, 2001, at his home in Cleveland, Miss. He was 77.

Mr. Dickerson retired from Entergy’s Delta Electric Steam Station after 35 years of service. He was born in New Hebron and graduated from New Hebron High School. He served in the Navy in World War II.

He was a member of First Baptist Church and the Balcony Sunday school class. He was a 32nd degree Mason and a former member of the Cleveland Noon Lions Club.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Ann Dickerson Bradberry, and his parents, Thomas Hutchins Dickerson and Annie Laura Dickerson.

Survivors include his wife, Geraldine Holmes of Cleveland; a son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Judy Dickerson of Vicksburg; and five grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Thweatt-King Funeral Home in Cleveland. Burial will follow at New Cleveland Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. Thursday until the service at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Cleveland or to Community Hospice Care.

JOSEPH JACKSON JENKINS

Joseph Jackson Jenkins died Tuesday, Dec. 25, 2001, at his home. He was 64.

Mr. Jenkins was retired from the Information Technology Laboratory at the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Waterways Experiment Station. He was a veteran of the Air Force.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Libby Kay Jenkins, and his father, George Jenkins.

He is survived by his wife, Janice Gaines Jenkins of Vicksburg; four daughters, Denise M. Jenkins of Dallas, Sharon L. Jenkins of Daly City, Calif., and Avis J. Jenkins and Winnie Jenkins, both of Vicksburg; his mother, Mary S. Jenkins of Vicksburg; two grandchildren, Shareena Ellis and Joseph Brown, both of Vicksburg; and one great-grandchild and other relatives, including Arlee Smith of Vicksburg and Myrtle Heard of Pittsburgh, Pa.

IRIS ELIZABETH LLOYD

Services for Iris Elizabeth Lloyd will be at 6 p.m. Thursday at Oak Chapel M.B. Church. Burial will be Friday at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Miss Lloyd died Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2001, at ParkView Regional Medical Center. She was 39.

Born in Vicksburg, Miss Lloyd was a 1980 graduate of West Aurora High School in Aurora, Ill. She also attended Barnes Community College in Aurora. She was a member of Faith Christian Center.

She is survived by her father, Lorenzo Walker of Oakland, Calif.; her mother, Lillie Bell Lloyd of Vicksburg; her fiance, Timothy Kelly of Vicksburg; three brothers, Darryl Caldwell of Vicksburg and Darrasis Walker and Trevor Walker, both of Oakland; her sister, Sharon Lloyd of Vicksburg; her maternal grandmother, Geraldine Lloyd of Vicksburg; her maternal great-great-grandmother, Alberta Burse of Clinton; and other relatives.

DORIS MAXINE OUTLAW

ST. JOSEPH Doris Maxine Outlaw died Monday, Dec. 24, 2001.

She was 76.

Mrs. Outlaw was born in Forest, La., and had lived in St. Joseph for many years. A beautician, she was a member of St. Joseph Baptist Church.

Survivors include one son, Jerry Lee Outlaw of St. Joseph; two daughters, Cynthia O. Sloane of St. Joseph and Peggy O. Alonzo of Molino, Fla.; one brother, Wade Vinson Jr. of St. Joseph; one sister, Betty Stapp of Gulf Breeze, Fla.; and six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Memorial services will be at 3 p.m. Thursday at St. Joseph Baptist Church with Dr. Ray Robbins officiating.

CHARLES SCOTT SR.

Charles “Hot Cat” Scott Sr. died Tuesday, Dec. 25, 2001, at ParkView Regional Medical Center. He was 82.

Mr. Scott retired as a pipefitter from Bendix Corp. in Kansas City, Mo. He was a veteran of the Army, serving in World War II. He was a deacon at Clover Valley M.B. Church.

He is survived by his wife, Margaret Scott of Vicksburg; three sons, Charles Scott Jr. of Minneapolis, Minn., Timothy Scott of Los Angeles and Robert Scott of Vicksburg; two daughters, Margaret McDonald of Minneapolis and Trina Scott of Vicksburg; a brother, Frank Scott of Vicksburg; a sister, Ruth Cottingham of Cape May, N.J.; and grandchildren, great-grandchildren and other relatives, including Sherry Taylor of Atlanta.
