JESSE LEE KELLY
DETROIT Jesse Lee Kelly died Sunday, Dec. 23, 2001, at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit. He was 65.
Born in Warren County, Mr. Kelly attended Vicksburg Public Schools. He was employed at Ford Motors Sterling Plant in Detroit. He was a member of Holly Grove Baptist Church in Vicksburg.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Katie Kelly; his daughter, Elizabeth Kelly; two sisters, Elizabeth Grey and Dorothy Lee Kelly; and a nephew, Harvey Dean Kelly.
Survivors include five sons, Jesse Kelly of Seattle, John D. Kelly III, Eric Kelly, Corey Kelly and Reggie Kelly, all of Detroit; four daughters, Jeanette Kelly of Seattle, Jackie Kelly, April Kelly and JoAnn Kelly, all of Detroit; a brother, John D. kelly of Los Angeles; a sister, Katie Mae Kelly Berry of Vicksburg; and other relatives, including Sofronia McGloster, Essie Yelder and Ella Lee Remsey, all of Detroit.
Cole’s Funeral Home of Detroit has charge of the arrangements.
JOHNNY MACK SR.
EDWARDS Johnny Mack Sr. died Sunday, Dec. 23, 2001, at G.V. “Sonny” Montgomery Veterans Administration Hospital. He was 74.
Mr. Mack was a native of Edwards.
He was preceded in death by six sisters and five brothers.
He is survived his wife, Nancy B. Mack of Edwards; 13 sons, Johnny Mack Jr., Herman Ray Mack, Ronnie Mack, Johnny Ray Mack, Ricky Mack, Willie Joe Johnson, Quinton Webster and Ricky Johnson, all of Edwards, Pink Mack of Elkhart, Ind., Delmar Johnson of West Memphis, Ark., Robert Johnson of Jackson, Bernard Webster of Kansas City, Mo., and Earl Lee Mack of Flint, Mich.; nine daughters, Willie M. Sampson and Jacqueline Wilson, both of Raymond, Betty Yvonne Holt of Champaign, Ill., Fern Palmer of Elkhart, Mary Ann Berry of Jackson, Patricia Webster of Bolton and Jeanette Bolton, Ivory Christian and Peggy Powell, all of Edwards; four brothers, James Lee Mack and Willie Mack, both of Edwards, Eddie Mack of Houston, Texas, and Lee Arthur Mack of Los Angeles; two sisters, Ada Mack Duette and Earleen Mack Brown, both of Los Angeles; and 87 grandchildren and 50 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Friendship M.B. Church in Edwards. Burial will follow at Greenhill Cemetery in Edwards under the direction of Lakeover Funeral Home of Jackson.
JENNIFER JO NELSON
Jennifer Jo Nelson died Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2001, at ParkView Regional Medical Center. She was 30.
Ms. Nelson was a lifelong Vicksburg resident. She attended Vicksburg High School and Mississippi College.
She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Clyde and Ruth Nelson, and her maternal grandmother, Dorothy Tuccio.
She is survived by two daughters, Hallie Nicole Nettles and Brandy Nicole Nelson, both of
Vicksburg; her mother, Dorothy Tuccio Nelson of Vicksburg; her father, Riley Wayne Nelson Sr. of
Vicksburg; a brother, Riley Wayne Nelson Jr. of Vicksburg; two sisters, Amy Nelson Armstrong and Rebecca Mae Nelson, both of Vicksburg; her maternal grandfather, Joe Tuccio Sr. of Vicksburg; and other relatives.
Fisher-Riles Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.
GEORGE I. RUSH
ISOLA George I. Rush died Thursday, Dec. 27, 2001, at his home. He was 81.
Born in Clarke County, Ala., Mr. Rush lived in the Isola community for the last 64 years. He was a veteran of World War II and a member of the American Legion Post 145.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene and Lucy Stewart Rush; a son, Jerry Glenn Rush; a sister, Bessie G. Weldon; two brothers, Thomas A. Rush and Edward M. Rush.
Survivors include his wife, Thelma Russell Rush; two daughters, Sandra L. James of Belzoni and Rebecca Joyce Bradley of Indianola; three sons, Bob I. Rush of Clarksdale, Freddie S. Rush of Vicksburg and Jackie L. Rush of Belzoni; and nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Card Funeral Home in Indianola. Burial will follow at Belzoni Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6 until 8 tonight at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
CHARLES SCOTT SR.
Services for Charles “Hot Cat” Scott Sr. will be at 11 a.m. Sunday at Clover Valley M.B. Church. Burial will follow at the church cemetery under the direction of Dillon-Chisley Funeral Home.
Mr. Scott died Tuesday, Dec. 25, 2001, at ParkView Regional Medical Center. He was 82.
He retired as a pipefitter from Bendix Corp. in Kansas City, Mo. He was a veteran of the Army, serving in World War II. He was a member of the American Legion Tyner-Ford Post 213. He was a deacon at Clover Valley M.B. Church.
Survivors include his wife, Margaret Scott of Vicksburg; three sons, Charles Scott Jr. of Minneapolis, Minn., Timothy Scott of Los Angeles and Robert Scott of Vicksburg; two daughters, Margaret McDonald of Minneapolis and Trina Scott of Vicksburg; one brother, Frank Scott of Vicksburg; one sister, Ruth Cottingham of Cape May, N.J.; and grandchildren, great-grandchildren and other relatives, including Sherry Taylor of Atlanta.

LEROY TINNER SR.
PORT GIBSON Leroy Tinner Sr. died Tuesday, Dec. 25, 2001, at Claiborne County Hospital. He was 54.
Mr. Tinner is survived by his wife, Shirley Tinner of Port Gibson; three sons, Dwayne Tinner of Port Gibson, Eric Tinner of Dallas and Leroy Tinner Jr. of Fort Jackson, S.C.; a daughter, Deneka Tinner of Port Gibson; four brothers, Jerome Tinner of Dallas, Frank Tinner of Chicago and David Earl Tinner and John Henry Tinner, both of Gary, Ind.; a sister, Doris Tinner of Dallas; seven grandchildren; nieces; nephews; and friends and other relatives, including Willie Gusta of Port Gibson.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Greater St. Mark M.B. Church with the Rev. Leon Howard officiating. Burial will follow at Mercy Seat M.B. Church Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 1 until 6 p.m. today at Thompson Funeral Home Inc. of Port Gibson and from 10 a.m. Saturday until the service at the church.
