PECOLA KELLY

PORT GIBSON Pecola Kelly died Thursday, Dec. 27, 2001, at ParkView Regional Medical Center. She was 89.

Mrs. Kelly was a member of Jerusalem Baptist Church where she was on the mother board. She was also a member of the Baptist Aid.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jasper and Beulah Marshall Hamlin; her brother, Randolph Hamlin; two sisters, Hannah Turner Davis and Elnora Rodgers; two grandsons, Mark Johnson and Michael D. Kelly; and a great-grandson, Troshawn Williams.

She is survived by her son, Don L. Kelly of Port Gibson; three daughters, Joreatha M. Brandon, Estella Johnson and Maple Kelly, all of Port Gibson; her stepdaughter, Ollie Wells of Port Gibson; and 10 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren and other relatives.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Ashland M.B. Church in Port Gibson with the Revs. Jonathan Hamlin, Eddie Walls and James Dorsey officiating. Burial will follow at Thompson Memorial Garden Cemetery in Port Gibson.

Visitation will be from 1 until 6 tonight at Thompson Funeral Home in Port Gibson and from noon until the service Thursday at the church.

SAMMIE LEE TAYLOR SR.

Services for Sammie Lee Taylor Sr. will be at 2:30 p.m. Thursday at Williams Funeral Service.

Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Open visitation will be today at the funeral home.

Mr. Taylor died Friday, Dec. 28, 2001, at Vicksburg Convalescent Home. He was 69.

Mr. Taylor was a retired truck driver. He lived in Winter Haven, Fla., for 36 years before returning to Vicksburg in September.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Stasie Taylor; his parents, John Wesley Taylor and Leithia Y. Taylor; and two brothers, John L. Taylor and Arthur Taylor.

He is survived by one son, Sammie Lee Taylor Jr., of San Diego, Calif.; one daughter Portia T. Coleman of Vicksburg; two brothers, Joseph Taylor and Earl Taylor, both of Vicksburg; three sisters, Gloria Southward of Jackson and Perrie Williams and Louise Taylor Kennedy, both of Vicksburg; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild; nieces and nephews, including Herman Campbell of Vicksburg.

MILDRED TREVILION TORREY

PORT GIBSON Mildred Trevilion Torrey died Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2002, at University Medical Center. She was 84.

Mrs. Torrey was a native and lifelong resident of Port Gibson. She was employed with M&M Super Store in Port Gibson for 28 years before retiring about 20 years ago. She was a member of Port Gibson Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Burnice A. Trevilion Sr. and George S. Torrey.

Survivors include her son, Burnice A. Trevilion Jr. of Port Gibson; her daughter, Linda Rummells of Learned; a stepson, John L. Torrey of Port Gibson; a stepdaughter, Judy Abrams of Aiken, S.C.; and five grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, four stepgrandchildren and two stepgreat-grandchildren.

Services will be at 3 p.m. Thursday at Glenwood Funeral Home in Port Gibson. Burial will follow at Wintergreen Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until the service Thursday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Tim Trevilion, Mark Trevilion, Douglas Rummells, James Curtis, Wayne “Bud” Ross and Ben Chapin.

FRANCES TURNER

PELAHATCHIE Frances Turner died Monday, Dec. 31, 2001, at Guardian Angel Hospice, Scott County Regional Medical Center. She was 90.

Mrs. Turner was a charter member of Redwood United Methodist Church in Redwood. She was a member of the Warren County Home Demonstration Club for over 50 years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Lewis Turner; two brothers and a sister.

She is survived by three daughters, Lucille Patrick of Pelahatchie, Esther Amos of Hazlehurst and Mary Lynn Patton of Hollandale; three brothers, Charles Brasfield and Earl Brasfield, both of Vicksburg, Edgar Brasfield of Brandon; and six grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Baldwin-Lee Funeral Home in Pearl. Burial will follow at Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery in Pelahatchie.

ANNIE HOBART WARREN

Annie Hobart Warren died Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2002, at Heritage House Nursing Home. She was 92.

Born in Washington County, Mrs. Warren had lived in Vicksburg since 1943. She owned and operated Warren Catering Service. She was also employed for a number of years as a paper carrier for the Vicksburg Evening Post. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Morgan L. Warren; and a son, Roger Hobart Warren.

She is survived by two sons, Morgan L. Warren of Yuba City, Calif., and Jerry Warren of Philadelphia, Miss.; two daughters, Ann W. Penley of Vicksburg and Sara W. Matthews of Lorander, La.; and 16 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Glenwood Funeral Home with the Rev. Steve Bryant officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until the service Thursday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be grandsons.

JAMES WILSON

PORT GIBSON James Wilson died Saturday, Dec. 29, 2001, at University Medical Center. He was 85.

Mr. Wilson is survived by his wife, Alma Wilson of Port Gibson; his brother, John Allen Wilson of Port Gibson; and nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Mercy Seat M.B. Church in Port Gibson with the Rev. Frank McGriggs officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.

Visitation will be from 1 until 6 p.m. Thursday at Thompson Funeral Home in Port Gibson and from noon until the service Friday at the church.
