JAMES ALBERT GREER

ORANGE, Texas James Albert Greer died Thursday, Dec. 27, 2001, in Orange, Texas. He was 59.

Born in Vicksburg, Mr. Greer attended Jett High School, lettering in football and basketball. He was a resident of Orange, Texas, and had served as administrator of The Heritage Center retirement apartment complex for 12 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include two sons, Jamie Greer of Madison and Brady Greer of Vicksburg; a daughter, Angela Stewart of Vicksburg; three grandchildren, Leighton Greer, Ashtin Greer and Braylen Greer; and other relatives.

Services were held under the direction of Kelley Watkins Funeral Home.

ORA MAE JACKSON

Services for Ora Mae Jackson will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Pleasant Grove M.B. Church with the Rev. Eddie Lane officiating. Burial will follow at Manning Cemetery.

Mrs. Jackson died Thursday, Jan. 3, 2002, at University Medical Center in Jackson. She was 56.

Mrs. Jackson was retired. She was a member of Oak Grove M.B. Church.

She was preceded in death by three brothers, Johnny Jackson Jr., Ambrose Jackson and Clarence Jackson; and three sisters, Mary Helen Harris, Jeanette Jackson and Hattie Jackson.

She is survived by her husband, George Jackson; three sons, Lee Jackson of Minneapolis and Charles Smith and Chester Smith, both of Vicksburg; four daughters, Brenda Williams of Vicksburg, Lisa J. Clark of Atlanta, Darlene Jackson of Rolling Fork and LeDora Jackson of Dallas; two brothers, Leonard Jackson of Fitler and Andrew Jackson of Vicksburg; two sisters, Addie Lee Jones of Dayton, Ohio, and Lodis Smith of Vicksburg; her father, Johnny Jackson Sr.; nieces and nephews, including Dock Hall III; 16 grandchildren; and cousins and other relatives.

W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.

JACK JEFFERIES JR.

SAN JOSE, Calif. Jack Jefferies Jr. died Friday, Jan. 4, 2002, in San Jose, Calif. He was 63.

Mr. Jefferies was preceded in death by his father, Jack Jefferies Sr.; his mother, Bernice F. Buchanan; and two brothers, Albert James Buchanan and Ernest Lee Buchanan.

Survivors include three daughters, Janice Jefferies, Charlotte Sylva and Wanda Dillard, all of San Jose; three sisters, Marystine Buchanan, Ernestine B. Price and Debra Sue Buchanan, all of Vicksburg; two brothers, Acy Clark and Michael A. Buchanan, both of Vicksburg; and nieces, nephews, grandchildren and other relatives, including Luvenia Ellis of Vicksburg.

Services are pending in California.

ETHEL McGREW

TALLULA, Miss. Ethel McGrew died Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2002, at Mississippi Baptist Medical Center in Jackson. She was 78.

Mrs. McGrew had lived most of her life in Tallula, Miss. She was a member of the Church of God of Prophecy in Tallula.

She is survived by three sons, Bobby McGrew of Rolling Fork, Tommy McGrew of Greenville and Earl McGrew of California; three daughters, Linda Ingram of Tallula, Pat Oswalt of Biloxi and Ethel Taylor of Tallulah, La.; two sisters, Earline Rybolt of Clarksdale and Dot Knot of Marks; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Church of God of Prophecy with the Rev. Darrell Cook officiating. Burial will follow at County Line Cemetery in Glen Allan.

Visitation will be from 5 until 8 p.m. Friday at Glenwood Funeral Home in Rolling Fork.

DAVID RAY McPHAIL

TALLULA, Miss. David Ray McPhail died Sunday, Jan. 6, 2002, at his home in Tallula, Miss. He was 41.

A lifelong resident of Tallula, Mr. McPhail was employed with B&R Farms. He was a hunter and fisherman.

He was preceded in death by his father, Clyde F. McPhail.

He is survived by his wife, Lorie McPhail of Tallula; one son, Buford McPhail of Tallula; one daughter, Jessica McPhail of Tallula; his mother, Patricia A. McPhail of Tallula; one brother, Billy Joe McPhail of Tallula; and three sisters, Anita Randle of Oxford, Frankie Fuller of Mayersville and Debbie Delaney of Grace.

Services were at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Glenwood Funeral Home. Burial followed at County Line Cemetery.

Pallbearers were T-Bill Boyd, Perry Boyd, Sully McPhail, Lonnie Boyd, Gene Boykin and Burt McPhail.

Honorary pallbearers were Billy Boyd, Mitchell Brown and Greg Boyd.
