SHIRLEY MARIE COSBY

Services for Shirley Marie Cosby will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home with the Rev. Willie J. Hardy officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Mrs. Cosby died Friday, Jan. 11, 2002, at Vicksburg Medical Center. She was 48.

She was the director of the Initiative program and a member of Mount Pisgah M.B. Church.

She is survived by three sons, Daryl F. Cosby of Irving, Texas, and Dewayne L. Cosby and Bradley R. Cosby, both of Vicksburg; one daughter, Mary E. Cosby of Vicksburg; her parents, Aaron and Ernestine Miller Cosby; five brothers, Aaron Cosby Jr. of Edwards and Milton Cosby, Benny Cosby, Hyman Cosby and Brent Cosby, all of Vicksburg; two sisters, Annie Smith of Vicksburg and Selena Reed of Belzoni; nieces; nephews; cousins; and two grandchildren and other relatives, including Hazel Edwards of LaTuente, Calif.

JERRY G. FLETCHER

Jerry G. Fletcher died Saturday, Jan. 12, 2002, at ParkView Regional Medical Center. He was 76.

Born in Westend, N.C., Mr. Fletcher had lived in Vicksburg since 1965. He was a retired data processing supervisor for International Paper Co., where he was a member of the Quarter Century Club. He moved to Georgetown, S.C., and recently moved back to Vicksburg. He was a former member of First Presbyterian Church. He was a member of Wayne United Methodist Church in Georgetown.

He is survived by two daughters, Janet F. Blunt of Hampton, Va., and Kathy F. Emerson of Vicksburg; two grandchildren, Adrian Blunt and Jeremy Blunt, both of Hampton, Va.; and other relatives, including S. Ray Emerson Jr. of Vicksburg.

Services will be at a later date in Georgetown. Burial will be at Penny Royal Memorial Garden.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

BERTHA J. TAYLOR

CARPENTER Bertha J. Taylor died Sunday, Jan. 13, 2002, at Pinecrest Nursing Home in Hazlehurst. She was 92.

Miss Taylor was a native and lifelong resident of Carpenter. She was a member of Christian Church.

She is survived by three sisters, Helen McAlpin of Raymond, Dorothy Carraway of Carpenter and Merle Callender of Pascagoula; and nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Glenwood Funeral Home in Utica with Sidney White officiating. Burial will follow at White Oak Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 until 8 tonight at the funeral home.

IRENA B. WAGGONER

NEWELLTON Irena B. Waggoner died Sunday, Jan. 13, 2002, at Franklin Medical Center in Winnsboro. She was 96.

A retired nurse, Mrs. Waggoner was employed for several years with the Tensas Memorial Hospital in Newellton. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Newellton.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter H. Waggoner; two sons, Thomas Buck Waggoner and Walter S. Waggoner; three daughters, Florence Waggoner, Dorothy W. Ramsey and Wanda W. Parsons; and a grandson, Harold Parsons Jr.

She is survived by her brother, W.J. Brewer of Minden, La.; her sister, Grace B. Nowak of Little Rock, Ark.; and eight grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church in Newellton with the Rev. J. Fulton McGraw officiating. Burial will follow at Legion Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Crothers-Glenwood Funeral Home in Tallulah.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the service Thursday at the church.

LENORA MAE WENTWORTH

Lenora Mae Wentworth died Monday, Jan. 14, 2002, at her home. She was 75.

Born in Arkansas, Mrs. Wentworth had lived in Vicksburg for the past 50 years. She was a homemaker and a member of Calvary Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James William Wentworth.

She is survived by two sons, Robert Stout of Humble, Texas, and James Wentworth of Gulfport; her daughter, Billie Watson of Vicksburg; her brother, Andrew Jackson Wright of West Memphis, Ark.; and seven grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Glenwood Funeral Home with the Rev. George Ellege officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be from noon until the service Wednesday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Marcus Posey, Michael Owens, Robert Stout, Mathew Owens, Chris Darnell and Anthony McMullen.
