VERA JEAN GROSS

Services for Vera Jean Gross will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Williams Funeral Service with the Rev. Charlie Blackmore officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 until 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Miss Gross died Thursday, Jan. 17, 2002, at Vicksburg Medical Center. She was 44.

She was preceded in death by her father, Harrison Gross; her grandparents, Jessie and Olivia Blunt; and her stepfather, Benjamin Jones Sr.

She is survived by her mother, Alice H. Jones of Vicksburg; eight brothers, Capt. David L. Hubbard, Robert L. Hubbard Sr., Willie Gross and Cedrick Hubbard Sr., all of Vicksburg, Christopher C. Williams of Chicago, Larry Hubbard Sr. of Memphis, Benny L. Hubbard Sr. of Flowood and Anthony T. Hubbard of Atlanta; four sisters, Lillian Porter, Linda Wildee and Tommie Hubbard, all of Vicksburg, and Artemease Bailey of Gardena, Calif.; nieces; nephews; and other relatives, including Johnny Green of Vicksburg.

Williams Funeral Service has charge of the arrangements.

DENNIE MINER KOERPER

Dennie Miner Koerper died Thursday, Jan. 17, 2002, at Vicksburg Medical Center. She was 88.

A lifelong resident of Vicksburg, Mrs. Koerper was employed for a number of years as a desk clerk at the Vicksburg Hotel.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Holly Koerper; her parents, Edward and Dennie Lott Miner; and a brother, Louis Harwell.

She is survived by her daughter, Lucille Holsomback of Vicksburg; two sisters, Nina Gilbert and Lucille Oliphant, both of Vicksburg; three grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Cedar Hill Cemetery with the Rev. James O’Riordan officiating. Burial will follow under the direction of Fisher-Riles Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from noon until the service Tuesday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Martin Pace, Richard Jordan, Otha Jones, Billy Heggins, Gordon Stevens and Paul Barrett.

MARIE PERKINS

Marie “Pinky” Perkins died Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2002, at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland. She was 85.

Miss Perkins was a homemaker and member of King David Baptist Church. She was also a member of Household of Ruth.

She is survived by four nephews, Rufus Johnson of Eatontown, N.J., and Dexter Lewis, Harvey Lewis and Ed Lewis Jr., all of Vicksburg; and a godson, Medgar Scott of Atlanta.

W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.
