CHARLES CALVIN HENRY ALLEN SR.

DELHI Charles Calvin Henry Allen Sr. died Sunday, Jan. 20, 2002, at Richland Parish Hospital in Delhi. He was 84.

Mr. Allen was a retired farmer and a member of Newton Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by a son, Thomas Ernest Allen; and two sisters, Eula Smith and Alice Leachman.

He is survived by his wife, Thelma Lois Allen of Delhi; two sons, Charles Calvin Henry Allen Jr. of Vicksburg and James Wayne Allen of Longview, Texas; two daughters, Thelma Callaway of Delhi and Mary Nell Hale of Greenwood; two brothers, Hilton Allen of Call, Texas, and Ellis Allen of Delhi; two sisters, Betty Jo Stamey of Start, La., and Lois Okrusty of Monroe; 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and other relatives.

Services were Monday at Newton Baptist Church in Delhi with the Rev. Eddie Shoemaker officiating. Burial was at Newton Cemetery in Delhi under the direction of Cox Funeral Home.

Pallbearers were Blanchard Monroe, Bruce Monroe, Claude Earl Hosea, Clinton Weems, Lynn Blake and Sonny Hosea.

FRANCIS X. BLEYER JR.

NEW CASTLE, Del. Francis X. Bleyer Jr. died Thursday, Jan. 17, 2002, at his home in New Castle, Del. He was 48.

A former resident of Vicksburg, Mr. Bleyer attended St. Aloysius High School. He played American Legion baseball and was an altar boy at St. Paul Catholic Church. He was a mechanic and a union member of Formosa Plastics. He was a 1973 graduate of William Penn High School.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Margaret Kirk Bleyer; and a sister, Mary Ellen McNair.

He is survived by his wife, Sarah M. Garneski-Bleyer of New Castle; his daughter, Allison M. Bleyer of New Castle; his son, Frances X. “Frankie” Bleyer III of New Castle; his father and stepmother, Francis X. “Frank” Sr. and Dottie Bleyer, of Smyrna, Del.; his brother, James Bleyer; two sisters, Theresa Sporay Hughes and Veronica Thomson; five stepsisters, Karen Butela, Beth Mauro, Susan Jones, Sallie Erienne and Debbie Bury.

Services were today at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Delaware City, Del. Burial will be under the direction of Spicer-Millikin Funeral Home of Delaware City.

Memorials may be made to a wildlife preservation group in Delaware; or Compassionate Care Hospice of Delaware; or a favorite charity.

DANIEL L. BOONE

Daniel L. Boone died Sunday, Jan. 20, 2002, at ParkView Regional Medical Center. He was 80.

A lifelong resident of Vicksburg, Mr. Boone was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served during World War II. He was a retired self-employed carpenter. He was a member of First Christian Church.

Survivors include his wife, Margie Wood Boone of Vicksburg; five sons, Daniel W. Boone, Kenny L. Boone and George Boone, all of Vicksburg, James Boone of New Orleans and Dan Boone of Las Vegas; his brother, Vinkley Boone if Vicksburg; three sisters, Leona Beesley, Laura Hunter and Margaret Pagan, all of Vicksburg; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Glenwood Funeral Home with the Rev. Hancell Bankester officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until the service Wednesday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be R.K. Foley, Jimmy Mullen, Bobby Mullen, Herman Mullen, Zac Smythe, Randy Pagan, Peter Boone, Danny Boone and Glen Westbrook.

VINEY PINKNEY JACKSON

UTICA Viney Pinkney Jackson died Saturday, Jan. 19, 2002, at University Medical Center. She was 59.

A resident of Utica, Mrs. Jackson was a member of Zion Travelers M.B. Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Jackson Sr.; and her daughter, Viney Ann Jackson.

She is survived by four sons, Bobby Joe Pinkney of Sunflower County and Walter Jackson Jr., David Lee Jackson and Steven Lee Jackson, all of Utica; a brother, Robert Pinkney of Vicksburg; two sisters, Alice Marie Curtis of Jackson and Annie Marie Pinkney of Vicksburg; 12 grandchildren; and other relatives.
