DORIS M. CESSNA

PATTISON Doris M. Cessna died Saturday, Jan. 26, 2002, at Trace Haven in Vicksburg. She was 78.

Mrs. Cessna was a native of the Sandhill community and had lived in Pattison for 52 years. She retired as a packer after 22 years of service at National Plastics in Port Gibson.

She was a member of Unity Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ben Cessna.

Survivors include two sons, Alvin B. Cessna and Edward S. Cessna, both of Pattison; three daughters, Lela Ann Cessna of Pattison, Glenda Kay Cessna of Vicksburg and Patsy Bridges of Baton Rouge; one brother, W.L. Walley of Richton; four sisters, Ala Dean Nicholson, Ruth Brewer and Martha Henderson, all of Richton, and Elna Rae Wade of Ocala, Fla.; and five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Glenwood Funeral Home in Port Gibson. Burial will follow at Unity Cemetery.

Visitation will be from noon Tuesday until the service at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Tommy Lutz, Doug Nasif, Den Bridges, Brenton Bridges, Stephen Montgomery and John Edwards.

JOSEPH R. CURRO JR.

A Mass of the Resurrection will be said for Joseph R. Curro Jr. at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Michael Catholic Church with the Rev. James O’Riordan, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6 until 8 tonight at Fisher-Riles Funeral Home with Knights of Columbus prayers at 6:15 and Rosary at 6:30.

Mr. Curro died Saturday, Jan. 26, 2002, at ParkView Regional Medical Center. He was 63.

A native of Arcola, Miss., he was a 1956 graduate of Arcola High School and received his bachelor of science degree in mathematics from Mississippi State University in 1960. After serving in the Army, he worked as a computer observer and junior observer from 1962 until 1964 at Delta Exploration Company in Jackson and Houma, La.

In 1964, he joined the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Waterways Experiment Station, retiring in 1997 as chief of the Engineering Geophysics Branch, Earthquake Engineering and Geosciences Division with the Geotechnical Laboratory.

He was a member of the Society of Exploration Geophysicists, American Institute of Professional Geologists and American Society for Testing and Materials.

Mr. Curro was a communicant of St. Michael Catholic Church and a member of the Knights of Columbus.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph R. Sr. and Mary Maranto Curro.

Survivors include his wife, Myrtle Loviza Curro of Vicksburg; and four sons, Joseph R. Curro III of Clinton, Christopher J. Curro and Jerome A. Curro, both of Jackson, and Gregory S. Curro of Vicksburg.

Pallbearers will be Mike Guercio, Mike Maranto, Eugene Columbus, Andy Petro, Philip Vedros III, Mark Vedros, Stephen Vedros and Tim Wright.

Honorary pallbearers will be Ralph Bendinelli, T.J. Prestianni, Joe Mack Russell, Bernard Smyly, Stacy Miller, Bill Clark, Brad Warnock, Dr. Murray Whitaker, Dr. Randy Easterling and Dr. Gerhardt Mundinger.

BUDDY GRAY

HUNTINGDON, Tenn. Buddy Gray died Sunday, Jan. 27, 2002, at Methodist LeBonheur Hospital in Jackson, Tenn. He was 60.

A former resident of Vicksburg, Mr. Gray was a project superintendent for Clark Construction Company.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter Miles and Verda Louise Grady Gray.

He is survived by his wife, Melissa Robinson Gray of Huntingdon; his stepdaughter, Jade Robinson of Huntingdon; and two stepsons, Field Robinson and Preston Robinson, both of Huntingdon.

Visitation will be from 5 until 7 tonight at Fisher-Riles Funeral Home.

URA A. HERROD

Ura A. Herrod died Sunday, Jan. 27, 2002, at Shady Lawn Nursing Home. She was 79.

Born in Leavenworth, Kan., Mrs. Herrod was the daughter of the late John B. and Pearl Martin Hedges. She was a manager with United Dollar Store and General Dollar Store for more than 27 years. She was a lifetime member of the Order of Eastern Star and Vicksburg Senior Citizens. She was a member of the Baptist faith.

She is survived by her son, John B. Herrod of Vicksburg; and two cousins, Helen Edmonds and Nellie Martin LaMont, both of Easton, Kan.

Fisher-Riles Funeral Home has charge of the arrangements.

WILLIAM G. LAWRENCE

RICHLAND William G. Lawrence died Thursday, Jan. 24, 2002, at his home in Richland. He was

58.

A native of Port Gibson, Mr. Lawrence had lived in Hinds County for the past 22 years. He worked for the Airport Police as a dispatch officer and was a Navy veteran. He was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include his wife, Glenda Lawrence of Richland; two sons, Michael Jefferson Lawrence of Austin, Texas, and William Chad Lawrence of Richland; one daughter, Kimberly Lanora Lawrence of Richland; three brothers, Ken Lawrence of Vicksburg, Dale Lawrence of Houston, Texas, and Tom Lawrence of Chula Vista, Calif.; and one grandchild.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Glenwood Funeral Home in Vicksburg. Burial will follow at Wintergreen Cemetery in Port Gibson.

Visitation will be from 5 until 8 tonight at the funeral home in Vicksburg.

Pallbearers will be officers of the Airport Police.

MARY M. PUGH

Mary M. Pugh died Saturday, Jan. 26, 2002, at Vicksburg Medical Center. She was 94.

Born in Wayne County, Mrs. Pugh was a retired hospital nursery worker. She was a member of Church of God of Prophecy.

She is survived by her son, Isom Pugh Jr.; her daughter, W. Dee Kroon of Texarkana, Texas; 10 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Glenwood Funeral Home with the Revs. John Kroon and Douglas Browning officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until the service Tuesday at the funeral home.
