ARNETTA McWANE BROWN

Arnetta McWane Brown, formerly of Vicksburg, died Saturday, Feb. 2, 2002, at her home in Washington, D.C. She was 91.

Mrs. Brown was retired from the U.S. Post Office in Chicago. She was of the Methodist faith.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard McWane; a daughter, Virginia McWane Lewis; her parents, Albert Brown and Lillie Williams Brown; two brothers, Robert L. Brown and Burton Brown; and three sisters, Elizabeth Ford Brown, Mary B. Smith and Julia Ryan.

Survivors include a son, Samuel McWane of Washington, D.C.; one sister, Jeanette Brown Farmer of Vicksburg; and two grandchildren.

W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.

ROBERT BRYANT SR.

Robert Bryant Sr. died Saturday, Feb. 2, 2002, at Vicksburg Medical Center. He was 86.

Mr. Bryant was retired from Anderson-Tully Co. and a member of Bright Morning Star Church. He served in the Army in World War II.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Carrie Bryant; his parents, Lem L. Russell Sr. and Ella Russell; a daughter, Jewel Bryant; and three brothers, Lem Russell Jr., Willie Russell and Tuck Russell.

Survivors include two sons, Robert Bryant Jr., and Ewell Bryant, both of Vicksburg; two daughters, Janice B. Dillard and Faye Bryant, both of Vicksburg; two brothers, Percy Russell of Jackson and James Russell of Ridgeland; seven sisters, Lula Mae Russell and Chineta Davis, both of Rochester, N.Y., Odella Dunson and Creola Whalen, both of Jackson, Alberta Hill of Ridgeland, Daisy Bell Tate of Magnolia and Ledora Dunson of Las Vegas; and 10 grandchildren, great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends.

Williams Funeral Service has charge of arrangements.

LUM HUSBANDS

Lum Husbands died Saturday, Feb. 2, 2002, at Central Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson. He was 78.

A lifelong resident of Vicksburg, he was the son of the late Percy and Julia White Husbands. He was a veteran of World War II, serving with the U.S. Navy Seabees.

He was retired from Marathon-LeTourneau and was a former member of First Baptist Church of Vicksburg.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Pauline Crowley and Bessie Dye.

He has no survivors.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Cedar Hill Cemetery with the Rev. James C. Hess officiating. Burial will follow under the direction of Fisher-Riles Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 5 until 7 tonight at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Dave Ellis, Ellis Morrison, Shawn Oliphant, Dough May, John Mann and Charles Martin.

Memorials may be made to the American Lung Association.

LILIAN SORRELS MANGUM

Lilian Sorrels Mangum died Sunday, Feb. 3, 2002, at the home of her daughter in Indianola. She was 81.

A former resident of Carlisle, Mrs. Mangum had lived in Vicksburg for the last 14 years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert Sidney and Lilian Elmore Perkins Sorrels; three sisters, Vivian Reaves, Lillie Bell Hart and Myrtle Taylor; and two brothers, Aubrey Sorrels and Everett Sorrels.

She is survived by two daughters, Norma Mangum Spencer of Indianola and Charlotte Magnum Tubbs of Oxford; three sisters, Annie Laurie Boren and Virginia Seawright, both of Vicksburg, and Cathleen Harmon of Port Gibson; her brother, Sidney Sorrels of Mechanicsville, Md.; two granddaughters, Angela Bannerman of Jackson and Lori Lei Lesley of Natchez; two great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Services will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Wintergreen Cemetery in Port Gibson.

Visitation will be from noon until 2 p.m. Tuesday at Fisher-Riles Funeral Home.
