ROBERT BRYANT SR.

Services for Robert Bryant Sr. will be at noon Thursday at Williams Funeral Service with the Rev. Joseph Brisco officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 until 7 tonight at the funeral home.

Mr. Bryant died Saturday, Feb. 2, 2002, at Vicksburg Medical Center. He was 86.

He was retired from Anderson-Tully Co. and a member of Bright Morning Star Church. He served in the Army in World War II.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Carrie Bryant; his parents, Lem L. Russell Sr. and Ella Russell; a daughter, Jewel Bryant; and three brothers, Lem Russell Jr., Willie Russell and Tuck Russell.

Survivors include two sons, Robert Bryant Jr., and Ewell Bryant, both of Vicksburg; two daughters, Janice B. Dillard and Faye Bryant, both of Vicksburg; two brothers, Percy Russell of Jackson and James Russell of Ridgeland; seven sisters, Lula Mae Russell and Chineta Davis, both of Rochester, N.Y., Odella Dunson and Creola Whalen, both of Jackson, Alberta Hill of Ridgeland, Daisy Bell Tate of Magnolia and Ledora Dunson of Las Vegas; and 10 grandchildren, great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends.

RODERICK EARL EASTMAN

WAUKEGAN, Ill. Roderick Earl Eastman died Monday, Feb. 4, 2002, at St. Therese Medical Center in Waukegan, Ill. He was 34.

Mr. Eastman was a factory worker. He was of the Baptist faith.

He is survived by a son, Roderick E. Eastman Jr. of Waukegan; two daughters, Ra’Shenique Eastman of Waukegan and Ieasha Eastman of Jackson; his parents, William Eastman and Betty Wilson Eastman, both of Vicksburg; three brothers, Edward Pettis and William Eastman Jr., both of Vicksburg, and Fabian Eastman of Waukegan; four sisters, Anitra Eastman, Tikeasha Eastman, Angela Eastman and Pam Eastman, all of Vicksburg; and other relatives, including Janice Franklin of Waukegan.

W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.

ALBERT WATTS PRENTISS

ST. LOUIS, Mo. Albert Watts Prentiss died Saturday, Dec. 22, 2001, at his home in St. Louis. He was 64.

Born in Vicksburg, Mr. Prentiss was the first black male nurse to graduate from Mississippi Valley State University. He was a member of Greater St. Matthew Baptist Church in St. Louis.

He is survived by his son, Jeffery Prentiss of St. Louis; two brothers, Fred Prentiss of St. Louis and Cleophus Brown Jr. of Vicksburg; five sisters, Elmarie Upshire and Inetta Miller, both of Vicksburg, Alice Conley, Barbara Davis and Christine Thomas, all of St. Louis; four grandchildren; and other relatives, including Polly Watts Caro of Vicksburg, Rosia Noyle of St. Louis and Woodrow Watts Austin of Kansas City.

Services were in St. Louis.

RUBYE SENSEMAN

EDWARDS Rubye Senseman died Monday, Feb. 4, 2002, at Baptist Montclair Hospital in Birmingham, Ala. She was 85.

Mrs. Senseman was a native of McElroy, La., and was reared in Morton. She worked for the U.S. Weather Bureau in Jackson before moving to Edwards in 1952. She retired in 1981 from the Edwards Post Office and co-owned the 5 and 10 Cents Store for 30 years with her husband.

She was a member of Edwards United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women for 50 years.

Survivors include her husband, Howard E. Senseman; two sons, John Senseman of Southbridge, Mass., and David Senseman of Birmingham; four sisters, Lois Powell of Jackson, Dot Laseter of Ellisville, Doris Mize of Suisun, Calif., and Ann Donovon of Savannah, Ga.; and five grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Wright and Ferguson Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Morton Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 12:30 today until the service at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to Edwards United Methodist Church.

JOANNA WOODRUFF

EDWARDS Joanna Woodruff died Saturday, Feb. 2. 2002, at Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas. She was 81.

Mrs. Woodruff was a member of Springridge M.B. Church where she was on the mother board.

She is survived by two sons, Leo Woodruff Jr. of Richardson, Texas, and James Woodruff Sr. of Jackson; three daughters, Minnie Reed of Lockport, Ill., Rhodia McKenzie of Dallas and Maxie Randon of Edwards; her sister, Annie Woodson of Chicago; 12 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and other relatives.
