ROBERT GAINES SR.

Services for Robert “Toosie” Gaines Sr. will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Ebenezer M.B. Church with the Rev. David Brown Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Mr. Gaines died Sunday, Feb. 10, 2002, at ParkView Regional Medical Center. He was 85.

Born in Jefferson County, Mr. Gaines was a retired machinist. He was a member of Paragon Lodge No. 7 F&AM, St. John’s Burial Society and Ebenezer M.B. Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Bessie Stampley Gaines; his father, Wilson Gaines; his mother, Mary Watson Gaines; five brothers, Alfred Gaines, Isaac Gaines, Rowan Gaines, Sylvester Gaines and Wilson Gaines; and five sisters, Julia Keys Gaines, Anna Gaines, Ellen Smith, Carrie Banks and Mattie Banks.

He is survived by two sons, Robert Gaines Jr. of Omaha, Neb., and Karl Gaines of Vicksburg; his daughter, Carolyn Gaines of New Rochelle, N.Y.; a granddaughter; a great-grandson; nieces, including Evelyn Graham; nephews; and other relatives.

W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home has charge of the arrangements.

MABEL W. HARBOUR

Mabel W. Harbour died Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2002, at the home of her daughter. She was 92.

Born in Kemper County, Mrs. Harbour was a homemaker and a former justice of the peace in Ridgeland. She was a former member and Sunday school teacher at Ridgeland United Methodist Church, she attended First Methodist Protestant Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Hall Harbour; her son, David Harbour; a sister, Lula W. Iseman; and three brothers, Jodie F. Wright, William H. Wright and George W. Wright.

She is survived by her daughter Ann Fuller of Vicksburg; her brother, J. Robert Wright of Jackson; four grandsons, Fred Fuller of Jackson, Donny Fuller of Vicksburg, Billy Harbour of Brandon and Brad Harbour of Ridgeland; her granddaughter, Mandy Harbour of Jackson; and six great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Glenwood Funeral Home with the Revs. Billy Gerald and Reggie Smith officiating. Burial will be at 3:30 p.m. at Jasimine Cemetery in Ridgeland.

Visitation will be from 4 until 6 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Joshua Fuller, Jacob Fuller, Bill Bagley, Wesley Cunningham, Billy Harbour, Paul Epperson and Rhea Fuller IV.

Honorary pallbearers will be Rhea Fuller Jr., Leonard Fuller, W.F. Strickland, Lurline Strickland, Dr. Walter Johnston, Fay Gerald, Ruth Cunningham, Amy Cunningham, Sara Grant, Mary Oliver, Mary Sibley, Cindy Higgins, Marquida Quimby and Brownie Davis.

NANCY WHITE HARDEN

PORT GIBSON Nancy White Harden died Saturday, Feb. 9, 2002, at ParkView Regional Medical Center. She was 77.

Born in Waterproof, La., Mrs. Harden was a resident of Port Gibson. She was a homemaker and a member of the Baptist faith.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Cleven Harden; a son, Charles E. Harden; and a brother, Isaiah White.

She is survived by seven sons, Billy Harden and Alex Harden, both of Port Gibson, Roosevelt Kelly and Tom Kelly, both of Waterproof, Wilbur White Sr. of Alexandria, La., and Franklin Kelly and Roger Kelly, both of Nashville; two daughters, Cora Lee Thomas of Nashville and Nancy Jean Kelly of Port Gibson; two brothers, Frank White of Tallulah and Theodore White of Waterproof; a sister, Bernice White of Waterproof; 18 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and other relatives.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Myrtle Grove Baptist Church in Waterproof with the Rev. Frank Brown officiating. Burial will follow at Myrtle Grove Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6 until 7 p.m. Friday at Concordia Funeral Home in Waterproof.

MARTIN EARL JOHNSON

Martin Earl Johnson died Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2002, at Vicksburg Medical Center. He was 77.

Mr. Johnson was a native of Big Creek, and he had lived in Vicksburg for the past 35 years. He graduated from Mississippi State University. He was employed as a land salesman. He was a veteran of the Navy, having served during World War II in the Pacific. He was a member of Hawkins United Methodist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Wright Johnson of Vicksburg; two daughters, Marilyn Johnson and Catherine Johnson, both of Vicksburg; two brothers, Walter Johnson of Tunica and Glenn Johnson of Grenada; three sisters, Grace Young and Bobbie Stinson, both of Jackson, and Betty Sue Bennett of Texas.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Glenwood Funeral Home with the Rev. Billy Gerald officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. Friday until the service.

Pallbearers will be Dan Powell, Charlie Phillips, Glenn Johnson and Chad Phillips.

MARION MACNEIL

RAYMOND Marion MacNeil died Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2002, at her home in Raymond. She was 85.

A native of Philadelphia, Pa., Mrs. MacNeil had lived in Mississippi since 1993. She retired from Sears catalog department in 1974. She was a former member of Crawford Street United Methodist Church and was a member of Raymond Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lt. William Robert MacNeil.

She is survived by two sons, Robert T. MacNeil of Vicksburg and John W. MacNeil of Waterford, Conn.; and three grandchildren, Eric Amick of New Orleans, and Louann Amick and Christen Amick, both of Vicksburg.

Services will be at 6:30 p.m. Feb. 23 at Riggs Manor Retirement Home in Raymond with the Rev. Wayne Ansell officiating. Fisher-Riles Funeral Home has charge of the arrangements.
