MELVIN KILCREASE

PORT GIBSON Melvin Kilcrease died Sunday, Feb. 17, 2002, at his home. He was 55.

Mr. Kilcrease is survived by his mother, Lenzy Ruth Kilcrease of Port Gibson; his brother, Willie Kilcrease Jr. of Port Gibson; three sisters, Rose Huggins, Margaret O’Quinn and Anna Jean Cooper, all of St. Louis; and other relatives, including Leesco Gusta and Luther Kilcrease, both of Port Gibson.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Christian Chapel Church in Port Gibson with Elder T.E. Harris officiating. Burial will follow at Thompson Memorial Garden Cemetery in Port Gibson.

Visitation will be from 1 until 6 tonight at Thompson Funeral Home in Port Gibson and from 1 p.m. Thursday until the service at the church.

MARTHA GAYE WELTER MILLER

BROOKHAVEN Martha Gaye Welter Miller died Monday, Feb. 18, 2002, at her daughter’s home in Vicksburg. She was 57.

Born in Lincoln County, Mrs. Miller was a retired store clerk. She was a member of Wesson Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Connie Kaye Miller; her father, John A. Welter Sr.; and her grandparents, Prentiss and Martha Manning, Bernard H. Welter and Martha Welter.

She is survived by her mother and stepfather, Nora Mae and John T. Myers, of Wesson; a son, Tommy Miller of Memphis; two daughters, Gina Pettis of Vicksburg and Lisa Burns of Wesson; her brother, John A. Welter Jr. of Wesson; two sisters, Peggy Peets of Wesson and Judy Herrington of Brookhaven; seven grandchildren; and other relatives.

Services were today at Wesson Baptist Church. Burial was at Wesson Cemetery under the direction of Brookhaven Funeral Home.

FLOYD WILLIAMS

CARTERSVILLE, Ga. Floyd Williams died Friday, Feb. 15, 2002, at Kennestone Hospital in Marietta, Ga. He was 61.

Mr. Williams was born in Arcola, Miss., and moved to Vicksburg. He attended St. Mary’s Catholic School, Rosa A. Temple High School and Coahoma Junior College. He was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War. He also served in the Georgia National Guard.

In 1970, he moved to Cartersville, Ga., where he served as a trustee and choir member at St. Luke A.M.E. Church. He received degrees in education from Jackson State University and West Georgia College. He taught school in Bartow and Meriwether counties in Georgia, and he worked for the Fulton County School System after retirement.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Theo Sr. and Bertha Williams, and a brother, Robert Williams.

Survivors include his wife, Lessye Bryson Williams of Cartersville; a son, Derek Williams of Seattle, Wash.; a daughter, Fleurette Williams of Georgia; two sisters, Estella Lewis and Bertha W. Conner, both of Vicksburg; two brothers, John L. Williams of Greensboro, N.C., and Theo Williams Jr. of Vicksburg; two grandchildren; and nieces, nephews, friends and other relatives, including Edell Nixon, Elizabeth Williams and Sara Allen, all of Vicksburg.

Services were at 2 p.m. Friday at St. Luke A.M.E. Church under the direction of Mack Eppinger & Sons Funeral Home in Cartersville.
