SHERMAN CHAMBLIN PHARR
LONGVIEW, Texas Sherman Chamblin Pharr died Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2002, in Longview, Texas. He was 86.
Mr. Pharr was a former resident of Vicksburg and Coffeeville. He worked as a foreman with R.G. LeTourneau Inc. for 37 years at the Vicksburg and Longview plants. He was a Mason and member of New Hope Baptist Church in Coffeeville.
Mr. Pharr was preceded in death by his parents, John David Lee and Myrtle Lou Pharr; two sisters, Mary Hester and Christine Pharr; two brothers, Eugene “Benny” Pharr and Thomas Edward Pharr; and a grandson, Danny Scott Williams.
Survivors include his wife, Nellie Pharr; a son, Sherman C. Pharr Jr. of Greenville, S.C.; three daughters, Louise Hall of Vicksburg, Mert Williams of Grenada and Peggy Mackey of College Station, Texas; two brothers, Alverton Pharr of Vicksburg and James T. Pharr of Big Sandy, Texas; four sisters, Rebel Conner of Scottsdale, Ariz., O’Vera Bennett of Grenada and Maxine Castle and Aline McCary, both of Meridian; and nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Lakeview Funeral Home in Longview with the Rev. J.S. “Slim” Sullivan and Weldon Mackey officiating.
Visitation will be from 5 until 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
JOHN REEMES JR.
LAKE PROVIDENCE John Reemes Jr. died Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2002, at Baptist Memorial Hospital East in Memphis. He was 71.
Mr. Reemes was preceded in death by his parents, John Reemes Sr. and Effie Emmerline Reemes.
He is survived by his wife, Leone Estelle Reemes of Lake Providence; three sons, John Reemes III and Thomas William “Toney” Reemes, both of Oak Grove, and Paul David Reemes of Forest, La.; four daughters, Carolyn Leona Lancaster of Pearl, Susan Anne Irby of Oak Grove, Barbara Jean Nelson of Vicksburg and Peggy Darlene Tilleli of Orlando; his brother, Ray Reemes of St. Francisville, La.; three sisters, Opal Boone of Covington, Edna Higgins of Arkansas, and Judy Boyette of St. Francisville; and 13 grandchildren.
Services were today at Lakeside Baptist Church in Lake Providence with the Rev. Rick Herrington officiating. Burial was at Kilbourne Cemetery in Kilbourne, La.
Pallbearers were Kenneth Lamb, Tommy Hayes, Gordon Smith, Rob Vickers, Mark McDaniel, Jimmy Sullivan and Stanley Irby.
APRIL LEIGH TOMPKINS ROSKOWSKI
HAZLEHURST April Leigh Tompkins Roskowski died Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2002, as the result of injuries received in an automobile accident. She was 23.
Miss Roskowski is survived by her son, Kaden Lee Roskowski of Hazlehurst; her daughter, Kara Leigh Darby of Hazlehurst; her father, Robert G. Tompkins of Wesson; her mother, Lisa Wilson Berryman of Vicksburg; her brother, Robert G. Tompkins Jr. of Wesson; her sister, Memory Tompkins of Vicksburg; her paternal grandparents, Robert and Ailleen Tompkins of Edwards and Harold and Margie Hamilton of Hazlehurst; her maternal grandparents, Sonny and Annette Boyd of Utica; and her fiance, Justin Thompson of Hazlehurst.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Stringer Funeral Home in Hazlehurst. Burial will follow at Bethesda Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
ROSA LEE SHEDD
Rosa Lee Shedd died Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2002, at River Region Medical Center. She was 70.
A lifelong resident of Vicksburg, Mrs. Shedd was a retired licensed practical nurse at Mississippi State Hospital at Whitfield. She was a member of Zion Travelers M.B. Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Annie and Anthony Stewart and Irene McMorris; two brothers, William McMorris and James Elmore; a sister, Julia Holloway; and a grandson, Herbert Shedd Jr.
She is survived by four sons, Tennyson O. Shedd Jr., Tennyson Odell Shedd III, Michael B. Jackson and Herbert W. Shedd; three daughters, Carolyn Shedd Lassiter, Bonnie Shedd Fox and Janet Higgins Clark; two brothers, Albert McMorris and James McMorris; eight sisters, Annie Bell Smith, Christine Davis, Eleise Dorsey, Minnie Gee, Ruby Washington, Ruby “Frances” Hudson, Katie Frierson and Willie Mae Freeman; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and other relatives.
Williams Funeral Service has charge of the arrangements.
MACK WOODHOUSE
Services for Mack Woodhouse will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Hickory Tree M.B. Church with the Rev. Elzie O’Neal officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery under the direction of Robbins Funeral Home.
Visitation will be Friday at the funeral home and from 10 a.m. Saturday until the service at the church,
Mr. Woodhouse died Saturday, Feb. 23, 2002, at Shady Lawn Nursing Home. He was 79.
Mr. Woodhouse was a lifelong resident of Vicksburg and member of Hickory Tree M.B. Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harrison and Estella Woodhouse; two brothers; and one sister.
He is survived by a brother, Coleman Woodhouse of Aurora, Ill., other relatives and friends.
