EVANGELEAN CORA BARBER

Services for Evangelean Cora Barber will be at noon Sunday at New Zion M.B. Church with the Rev. Henry Williams officiating. Burial will follow at New Zion Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6 until 7 p.m. Saturday at W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home.

Mrs. Barber died Tuesday, March 5, 2002, at River Region Medical Center. She was 82.

She retired as a cook from Rosa A. Temple High School. She was a former member of Clover Valley M.B. Church’s adult choir. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star and New Zion M.B. Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Columbus and Beulah Watkins Barber; her husband, Louis “Pine” Gaskin Sr.; three sons, Columbus Palmer, Louis Gaskin Jr. and Charles Gaskin; and one sister, Rosalean Davis.

Survivors include four sons, Arthur Roy Gaskin of Vicksburg, Eugene Palmer of Robin, Ill., James Gaskin of Aurora, Ill., and Larry Gaskin of Las Vegas; eight daughters, Beulah Mae Fultz of Aurora, Willilean Gaskin Scott of Jackson and Ruby Callahan, Margaret Segrest, Ledora Howard, Rosie Coleman, Deloris Hubbard and Virginia Gaskin, all of Vicksburg; and grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

DELMAR LAMAR BERRY

PORT GIBSON Delmar Lamar Berry died Friday, March 1, 2002, at University Medical Center in Jackson. He was 68.

Mr. Berry was preceded in death by his wife, Gertrude Berry; and his parents, Ed and Ruth Berry.

Survivors include four sons, Delmar Berry and Lovie Berry, both of Dallas, Robert Berry and Franklin Berry, both of Pattison; five daughters, Barbara Turner of Beulah, Texas, Veta Harris of San Bernadine, Calif., Maple Jones and Diane Berry, both of Pattison and Janice Harris of Fayette; a goddaughter, Alberta Lee of Beulah; a godson, Robert Earl Dee of Pattison; 21 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and other relatives.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at East Mount Olive M.B. Church in Red Lick with Elder Walter Chambers officiating. Burial will follow at Little Zion Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 1 until 6 p.m. today at Thompson Funeral Home and from noon Saturday until the service at the church.

RULEY BURNS

Services for Ruley “Jr. Boy” Burns will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Williams Funeral Service with the Rev. Arthur Hicks officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 until 7 tonight at the funeral home.

Mr. Burns died Monday, March 4, 2002, at Northeast Community Care Inc. in Rayville, La. He was 67.

A retired farmer, he was of the Baptist faith.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Sarah Alexander, and his father.

Survivors include five sisters, Anna Rudell Washington of St. Francisville, La., Jurline Howard of Detroit, Rogene Spinks of Chicago, Mary Polk of Jackson and Lurline Green of Vicksburg; and nieces, nephews and other relatives, including Rosie Hicks and Anna Marie Lee, both of Vicksburg.

Williams Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.

CLAUDIA FRAZIER

HERMANVILLE Claudia Frazier died Monday March 4, 2002, at his home. He was 79.

Mr. Frazier is survived by his wife, Lizzie Frazier of Hermanville; three brothers, Lawrence Campbell, Barnett Campbell and Allen Campbell, all of Aurora, Ill.; his sister, Ruth Stewart of Aurora; and other relatives, including the Headley family of Port Gibson.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Campbell Chapel Church with the Rev. J.P. Neal officiating. Burial will follow at the Campbell Family Cemetery in the Willows community.

Visitation will be from 1 until 6 p.m. today at Thompson Funeral Home and from noon Saturday until the service at the church.

WILLIAM HENRY HAY

PORT GIBSON William Henry Hay died Thursday, March 7, 2002, at Claiborne County Hospital. He was 92.

Mr. Hay as a native and lifelong resident of Port Gibson. He attended Millsaps College and graduated from Cape Giradeau University in Cape Giradeau, Mo. He owned and operated OK Cleaners in Port Gibson for 38 years, retiring in 1973. He was a member of the Port Gibson Lions Club, Port Gibson United Methodist Church, Washington Lodge No. 3 F&AM. He was a former member of Claiborne County School Board and was one of the founders of Lake Claiborne Inc.

He is survived by his wife, Eunice Wheeless Hay of Port Gibson; his son, George W. Hay of Port Gibson; his daughter, Alice Kay Pope of Kingwood, Texas; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Port Gibson United Methodist Church. Burial will follow at Wintergreen Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 until 7 tonight at Glenwood Funeral Home in Port Gibson.

Pallbearers will be Sam Roberts, Kenneth Hay, Sam Patterson, Bobby Greenlee, John Coccaro, Mark Pope, Bill Pope and John L. Torrey.

ELIJAH HODGE SR.

EDWARDS Elijah Hodge Sr. died Tuesday, March 5, 2002, at his home in Edwards. He was 56.

He was preceded in death by a son, Elijah Hodge Jr.; and his parents, Sherman Hodge Sr. and Mattie Hodge.

Mr. Hodge is survived by his wife, Margaret Moffett Hodge; two sons, Calvin Hodge and Eugene Hodge, both of Edwards; a daughter, Gloria Hodge of Edwards; a brother, Raymond Hodge of Edwards; two sisters, Irene Johnson of Jackson and Maggie Hill of Edwards; 11 grandchildren; and other relatives.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at St. Paul M.B. Church. Burial will follow at the church cemetery in Edwards.

Visitation will be from 1 until 8 p.m. today at Lakeover Funeral Home and from noon Saturday until the service at the church.
