VIRGIE POLAN LOWE

Virgie Polan Lowe died Monday, March 11, 2002, at River Region Medical Center. She was 85.

A native of Delhi, La., Mrs. Lowe had lived in Vicksburg for more than 40 years. She was a licensed practical nurse for Vicksburg Hospital for 25 years. She was a member of St. George Antiochian Orthodox Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Andrew J. Lowe; her parents, Crawford Polan and Hazel Jackson; three brothers, Huey Polan, Garlon Polan and Donnie Polan; and two sisters, Winnie Lowe and Margarite Thornhill.

She is survived by two sons, Andrew C. Lowe of Satsuma, Fla., and Bobby C. Lowe of Chattanooga, Tenn.; her daughter, Lila L. Boolos of Vicksburg; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and other relatives, including Mickey N. Lowe of Shreveport.

Services will be at 4 p.m. Wednesday at St. George Antiochian Orthodox Church with the Rev. Peter Smith, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow at Green Acres Memorial Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 2 p.m. Wednesday until the service at the church. Trisagion prayers will be at 2 p.m.

Pallbearers will be Todd Boolos, Paul Boolos, Timothy Boolos, Kevin Schultz, Mark Lowe, Marty Lowe, Kevin Lowe and Kurt Lowe.

JIM ALEX REDDING

Jim Alex Redding died Wednesday, March 6, 2002, in Oklahoma City. He was 77.

A native of Yarbo, Ala., Mr. Redding had lived in Vicksburg most of his life. He retired from the Army and Navy with 21 years of service as a 1st Sergeant E-8 during World War II and the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the VFW and the American Legion. He was a self-employed contractor carpenter. He was a member of the Baptist faith.

He was preceded in death by a son, Daniel Thomas Redding; his parents, William J. and Lelia Strickland Redding; two brothers, B.W. Redding and Bud Redding; and a sister, Delouris Beech.

He is survived by his wife, Martha Mae Shingler Redding of Oklahoma City; two daughters, Tammy R. Hinson of Oklahoma City and Linda R. Wood of Woodbridge, Va.; two sons, Jim Redding Jr. and Jeffery Redding, both of Woodbridge; his sister, Louise Carney of Stonewall, La.; and three grandchildren, Cassidy Hinson, Laurin Saville and Robert Nelson Redding.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Fisher-Riles Funeral Home with the Rev. Walter Richie officiating. Burial will follow at Green Acres Memorial Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 until 7 tonight at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Charles Shingler, Richard Beech, Ronald Shingler, Timmy Beech, Charles Beech and Martin Benham.

Memorials may be made to a favorite charity.

LINCOLN C. REEVES

MANY, La. Lincoln C. Reeves died Monday, March 11, 2002, at Dubuis Hospital in Shreveport. He was 79.

Born in Sturgis, Mr. Reeves was a former resident of Vicksburg and had lived in Many, La., for many years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Johnathon C. and Velma Reeves; and two brothers, Bester L. Reeves and Alfred Reeves.

He is survived by a sister, Birdie Mae Dugan of Vicksburg; three brothers, Oren Reeves, Clyde Reeves and J.C. Reeves, all of Vicksburg; and other relatives including Dennis Reeves and Cindy Reeves.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Fisher-Riles Funeral Home with the Rev. Billy Brumfield officiating. Burial will follow at Green Acres Memorial Cemetery.

Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be James Reeves, Keith Reeves, Curtis Reeves, Randall Reeves, William Harold Reeves and Jamie Reeves.

Honorary pallbearer will be Dan Hall.

JAMES WRIGHT JR.

James “709” Wright Jr. died Sunday, March 10, 2002, at his home. He was 55.

Mr. Wright was a member of the Baptist faith.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James Wright Jr. and Everlena Hardy; three brothers, Henry Wright, Willie Wright and Charles Lee Wright; his maternal grandparents, Abe Hardy and Selena Hardy; and his paternal grandparents, Bill Wright and Hattie Wright.

He is survived by a son, Eddie Harris of Vicksburg; two brothers, Joseph Wright and David Wright, both of Vicksburg; and a sister, Hattie Wright of Vicksburg.
