MINNIE HAZEL SALLEY CAMPBELL

WEST MEMPHIS, Ark. Minnie Hazel Salley Campbell died Saturday, March 16, 2002, at West Memphis Health and Rehabilitation Center in West Memphis, Ark. She was 84.

Mrs. Campbell was a former Vicksburg resident and had lived in West Memphis since 1973.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church of West Memphis and the church Sunday school.

Mrs. Campbell was employed at Rice’s Furniture Company and Saul Fried Furniture Company until her retirement in 1973.

She was a former member of Bowmar Baptist Church and the Dorcus Sunday school class and WMU. She was a former member of the Eastern Star organization.

Mrs. Campbell was preceded in death by her husband, John D. Campbell Sr.; her parents; four brothers; and four sisters.

She is survived by two sons, John D. Campbell Jr. of Marion, Ark.; and Don L. Campbell of West Memphis; a daughter, Gwen Campbell Jones Edris of Vicksburg; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a brother, Robert Salley of Florence.

Services will be Monday at 2 p.m. at Indianola City Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be her grandchildren, Laura Palese, Denise Arms, Steve Campbell, Phil Campbell, Jeff Jones and Jason Jones.

Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, Missouri Street, West Memphis, Ark.; or Bowmar Baptist Church Building Fund, 1825 Highway 61 South, Vicksburg, MS. 39180; or Jacob’s Ladder Learning Center, 1017 Harrison St., Vicksburg, MS. 39180.

MARY MARGARET PEARCE JACKSON

Mary Margaret “Maggie” Pearce Jackson died Friday, March 16, 2002, as the result of an automobile accident. She was 39.

Mrs. Jackson was born in Glendale, Calif., and lived in Vicksburg most of her life.

She attended Warren Central High School and served as assistant manager of Rite Aid Pharmacy.

Mrs. Jackson was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church.

She was preceded in death by her father, Donald Dewey Pearce; a sister, Mary Frances Pearce; a grandson, John Cotter; and her grandfather, Murray Young Farrar.

Mrs. Jackson is survived by two daughters, Christina Cotter and Marianne Thomas, both of Vicksburg; her mother, Margaret Frances Pearce of Vicksburg; two sisters, Stephanie Pearce Slusasz of Jackson and Laura Ann Tuttle of Meridian; a brother, Donald Dewey Pearce Jr. of Vicksburg; two granddaughters, Kaylea Johnson of Longview, Texas, and Alexus Cotter of Vicksburg; her maternal grandmother, Mary Frances Farrar of Vicksburg; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Fisher-Riles Funeral Home with the Rev. Thomas McGing, pastor of St. Paul Catholic Church, officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 until 8 Monday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Howard Ettinger, Mark Ettinger, Daniel Ettinger, Tim Hynum, Jeff Abernathy and Joseph Farrar.

ANNIE LEE JAMES ODEMS

RED LICK Annie Lee James Odems died Wednesday March 13, 2002, at St. Dominic Hospital in Jackson. She was 92.

Mrs. Odems was a retired school bus driver for the Jefferson County Public School system and she was a member of Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church in Russum, Miss.

She was a mother of Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church and a former cook with the Sisters of Mercy in Jackson.

Mrs. Odems was preceded in death by her husband, Major Odems; her parents, Robert and Goald Jones James; three brothers; one sister, Frances Knight-Odems; four stepsons, Willie Odems, Abraham Odems, Fred Larry and Snook Larry; two stepdaughters, Mary Redmon and Annie Green.

She is survived by three sons, James D. Odems of Jackson, Robert M. Odems of Edwards and Joe R. Odems of Memphis; two daughters, Surelda Cook and Carlee Odems of Jackson; 22 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and other relatives and friends.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church in Russum with the Rev. Larry Clark. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery in Red Lick. Visitation will be Monday from noon until 6 p.m. at Rollins Chapel in Fayette.

Pallbearers will be Douglas Odems, Robert Odems Jr., Alvin Odems, Russell Cook, Bruce Odems, Roderick Odems and Joe R. Odems.

Honorary pallbearers will be James Odems Jr., Craig Odems, Reginald Odems, Johnny Odems, Victor Odems and Catlin Odems.

FLORINE B. WILLIAMS

Florine B. Williams died Friday, March 15, 2002, at Trace Haven Nursing Home. She was 80.

Mrs. Williams was a homemaker and a member of Rose Hill M.B. Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lonnie Williams Sr.; her parents, Alexander Judge and Bertha Scott Burns; two daughters, Birda Williams and Brenda Williams; her stepmother, Rosa Coleman Burns; and four sisters, Mabel Glover, Nellie Preacely, Lottie Fuller and Savannah McCorkle.

Mrs. Williams is survived by four sons, Alex Tolliver, Bobby Williams and John Williams, all of Vicksburg, and Lonnie Williams Jr. of Natchez; three daughters, Rosa Carter and Gloria Smith, both of Vicksburg, and Ella Thomas of Shreveport, La.; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home has charge of the arrangements.
