[03/22/02]A Warren County man stabbed early Sunday at a bar and further injured in a one-car wreck on the way to the hospital died this morning at University Medical Center in Jackson, Warren County Coroner John Thomason said.

Leroy Christmas, 57, 7552 Bovina Cut-Off Road, died at 4:40 a.m., University Medical Center spokesman Mary McElroy said.

It had not been determined whether his death was a result of the stabbing or the wreck. An autopsy was to be performed at Mississippi Mortuary Services, Thomason said.

Christmas was among three people stabbed in a fight at about 2 a.m. Sunday outside the B-29 Club on Erves Circle off Mississippi 27 South. The other two were Ed Watts, 41, 176 Erves Road, and Robert Miller, no age or address available.

As Christmas was being driven to River Region Medical Center after the fight, the vehicle in which he was a passenger rolled over in a one-car wreck on Mississippi 27, Warren County Sheriff Martin Pace said.

Watts was admitted to River Region Medical Center and released this morning, and Miller was treated and released from the emergency room, hospital spokesman Diane Gawronski said.

“We are continuing to interview witnesses,” Pace said. “Whether this was due to the assault or to the auto accident will be revealed in an autopsy.”

No arrests had been made in the fight, Pace said.

The Mississippi Highway Patrol handled the wreck after the fight, Pace said.
