VIOLET SMITH GADDIS

FOREST Violet Smith Gaddis died Saturday, April 13, 2002, at Olive Branch Nursing Home in Tallulah. She was 75.

Born in Polkville, Mrs. Gaddis was a lifelong resident of Forest. She was a longtime member of Forest Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Terry Smith of Polkville; and her son, Eddie Gaddis of Forest.

She is survived by two daughters, Becky Gaddis Guider of Vicksburg and Meg Gaddis Hatch of Clinton; four grandchildren, George Guider of Valley Park, Gaddis Guider of Vicksburg, Mark Hatch of Seminary and Michelle Hatch of Vicksburg; and two great-grandchildren, Peyton Guider and Kyle Guider, both of Valley Park.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Forest Baptist Church with the Rev. Gordon Sansing, pastor, officiating. Burial will be at Polkville Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 until 7 tonight at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Forest.

Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.

ROBERT W. LANGELY

Services for Robert W. Langley were today at Fisher-Riles Funeral Home with the Rev. Hancell

Bankester, pastor of First Christian Church, officiating. Burial followed at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Mr. Langely died Friday, April 12, 2002, at his home. He was 56.

Born in Greenville, Mr. Langley was the son of the late George W. Langley and Allie Langley Smith. He was a salesman for Frito Lay for 24 years before retiring in 2001.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Nadine Langley Thomas; and his brother, Jesse Eugene Langley.

He is survived by his wife, Pat Langley of Vicksburg; four daughters, Laura D. Ellis of Brandon, Lisa Langley and Leigh Anne Emery, both of Vicksburg, and Lacey Lee of Greenville; his sister, Juanita Grassi of Lake Village, Ark.; two brothers, Leon Langley of Clarksdale and George Langley of Birmingham, Ala.; two grandchildren, Katelin O’Donnel Emery of Vicksburg and Madeline Langley Lee of Greenville.

Pallbearers were Felton Townsend, Dennis Markle, Larry Nabors, Rick Atkins, Timmy Nabors and Reuben Williams.

Honorary pallbearers were Dr. Daniel Edney, Harry Gillespie, Tommy Smith and Earl Alexander.

EARL W. NARON JR.

Earl W. “Butch” Naron Jr. died Sunday, April 14, 2002, at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland. He was 57.

A native of Greenwood, Mr. Naron was a resident of Vicksburg. He attended Delta State University and was a member of Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity. He served in the Army and Air Reserve. He was employed at the Isle of Capri Casino. He was a member of the Catholic Church.

He is survived by his mother, Gwendolyn Lundy of Madison; his sister, Lynn Nassar of Madison; and other relatives, including Matthew Nassar, Patrick Nassar and Joe Nassar, all of Madison.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Richard Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Odd Fellows Cemetery in Greenwood.

Visitation will be from 6 until 7 tonight with wake at 7 at the church.

Memorials may be made to St. Joseph Catholic School, 308 New Mannsdale Road, Madison, MS. 39110; Hospice Ministries, 450 Towne Center Blvd., Ridgeland, Miss. 39157; or to a favorite charity.

MARY F. NEAL

Mary F. Neal died Sunday, April 14, 2002, at her home in Vicksburg. She was 53.

Mrs. Neal was a member of Bypass Church of Christ. She was a retired school teacher with the Vicksburg Warren School District.

She was preceded in death by her parents, George Murphy and Luvenia Shaw Murphy; and a brother, Jimmy Murphy.

She is survived by her husband, Tom Neal Jr. of Vicksburg; two sons, Eric Randall Neal of Kennesaw, Ga., and Anthony Sean Neal of Riverdale, Ga.; three brothers, Percy Murphy of Jackson, Eddie Murphy of Milwaukee, Wis., and Johnny Murphy of Orlando, Fla.; four sisters, Elizabeth Murphy Benson of Union, Ga., Lillie Ruth Walls of San Bernardino, Calif., Georgia Marie Carter of Decatur, Ga., and Martha Rhodes of Memphis; four grandchildren; and other relatives.

Williams Funeral Services has charge of the arrangements.

JERRY THORP RAY

ST. JOSEPH Jerry Thorp Ray died Saturday, April 13, 2002, at Riverland Medical Center in Corsicana, Texas. He was 56.

Mr. Ray was reared in Harrison, Ark., at the Olvey Hereford Ranch. He moved to St. Joseph in 1965 and was employed by W.E. Parks on a cattle farm. He became the manager of Winterquarters Hunting and Fishing Club in 1979.

He was preceded in death by his father, L.T. Ray; his maternal grandparents, Raymond and Stella Wood; and three uncles, John S. Wood, Charles R. Wood and Marvin L. May.

He is survived by his wife, Norma George Ray of St. Joseph; his mother, Lorene Wood Ray of Gould, Ark., two sisters, Lorita Schultz of Ninnekah, Okla., and Sandra Smith of Gould; and other relatives, including Arthur Schultz, Pat Schultz and Mike Schultz, all of Ninnekah, and David Smith of Gould.

Services will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Young Funeral Home in Ferriday, La., with Roy McDaniel, Michael Jenkins and Dr. Ray Robbins officiating.

Visitation will be from 1 p.m. Tuesday until the service at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Stanley May, Stan Wood, David Smith, Charles Selby, Tim Currington and Rickey Jones.

Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Winterquarters Hunting and Fishing Club, Gloria Landry, Dr. Stan Shuler and Eddie Thorns.
