ELI PETE BROOKS

PATTISON Eli Pete Brooks died Sunday, April 14, 2002, at his home in Pattison. He was 78.

Mr. Brooks attended St. Peter Baptist Church, where he was a member of the choir. He was a veteran of World War II and a member of the Baptist Aid and Christian Aid.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Brooks and Willie Mae Summage Brooks, and a brother, Duke Brooks.

He is survived by his wife, Priscilla Brooks of Pattison; two adopted daughters, Virginia Jupiter and Lucresha Howard, both of Chicago; five brothers, Ralph Brooks of Hermanville and Joseph Brooks, David Brooks, Charlie Brooks and George Brooks, all of Port Gibson; a sister, Lear Nora Brooks of Hermanville; nieces; nephews and friends and other relatives, including Lillie Mae Edwards of St. Paul, Minn., and members of the Ellis family.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at St. Peter Baptist Church in Pattison with the Rev. Troy Smith officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.

Visitation will be from 1 until 6 p.m. Friday at Thompson Funeral Home of Port Gibson and from noon Saturday until the service at the church.

ROOSEVELT NICHOLS

FAYETTE Roosevelt Nichols died Monday, April 15, 2002, at South Central Regional Medical Center. He was 44.

Mr. Nichols was born in Jefferson County and attended Ellisville State School.

He was preceded in death by a grandfather, Jessie Nichols.

He is survived by his parents, Roosevelt and Theresa Malone of Fayette; a grandmother, Etta Nichols of Fayette; three brothers, Ronnie Malone, Norris Malone and Morris Malone, all of Fayette; nine sisters, Martha Malone of Detroit, Georgia Jones of Meadville, Mary Jenkins and Christine Washington, both of Vicksburg, and Mary Malone, Thelma Perryman, Charlene Malone, Crystal Malone and Laveda Malone, all of Fayette; and aunts, uncles, other relatives and friends.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Jessmine Ridge Baptist Church in Fayette with the Rev. Percy Turner officiating. Burial will follow at Jessmine Ridge Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 1 until 6 p.m. Friday at Rollins Chapel in Fayette.

Pallbearers will be Earl Harried, Arthur Jackson, Charles Vessel, Kawaski Nichols, Adrian Taylor and Larry Malone.

Honorary pallbearers will be Norris Malone, Morris Malone, Ronnie Malone, Anthony Malone, Charles Malone and Michael Chambers.

EDITH STOREY POPE

NEWELLTON Edith Storey Pope died Tuesday, April 16, 2002, at Grace Home Residential Hospice in Shreveport, La. She was 89.

Mrs. Pope was born in Longstreet, La., and had lived in St. Joseph for 77 years. She was a U.S. postal clerk and a member of the St. Joseph Baptist Church.

Survivors include two daughters, Kay Carr of Monroe and Carldene Adcock of Knoxville, Tenn.; one sister, Charlene Guidry of Lake Charles, La.; three grandchildren, Kyle Cline of Silver Springs, Md., Jeffrey Adcock of Clarksburg, Md., and Daphne Griffin of Haughton, La.; eight great-grandchildren; and other relatives, including Juanita Storey of Tallulah.

Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Legion Memorial Cemetery in Newellton with the Rev. Keith Stephens officiating. Burial will follow under the direction of Crothers-Glenwood Funeral Home.

GENE I. THOMAS SR.

Gene I. Thomas Sr. died Wednesday, April 17, 2002, at Rayville Guest House in Rayville, La. He was 66.

Mr. Thomas was a native of Jellico Creek, Ky., and had lived in Vicksburg for the past 31 years. He was a disabled veteran having served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War Conflict aboard the U.S.S. NOA DD841. He was awarded the National Defense Ribbon, Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal and the Navy Occupation Service Medal. He was a member of the Baptist faith.

He was preceded in death by his father, James Thomas; his mother, Thelma L. Thomas; and two brothers, Kyle D. Thomas and Donald R. Thomas.

He is survived by his wife, Joan W. Thomas of Vicksburg; three sons, Roy Thomas, John Thomas and Gene Thomas Jr., all of Vicksburg; two daughters, LaVonne T. Prince and Angel Thomas, both of Vicksburg; two brothers, Orville Thomas and Russell Thomas, both of Cincinnati, Ohio; two sisters, Velva Hardesty and Kathy Dowd, both of Cincinnati; and nine grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Glenwood Funeral Home with the Rev. Terry White officiating. Burial will follow at Green Acres Memorial Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 until 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Mike Hudson, Tim Hynum, Neal Brun, Mark Tillotson, Billy Thornell and Matthew Prince.

Honorary pallbearers will be Tommy Jones, R.B. Nixon, Henry Patterson, Bob Johnson, Paul Johnson and Robert Ware.

DORIS DELORIS WILLIAMS

SATARTIA Services for Doris Deloris “Shane” Williams will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Pilgrim Rest M.B. Church, Dixie Farms Road in Yazoo County, with the Rev. Henry Mayfield officiating. Burial will follow at Pilgrim Rest M.B. Church Cemetery under the direction of Shaiffer and Collins Funeral Home in Yazoo City.

Miss Williams died Thursday, April 11, 2002, at St. Dominic Memorial Hospital in Jackson. She was 34.

She was a choir member of Elbethel M.B. Church.

She is survived by her mother, Willie Lee Williams of Satartia; her stepfather, Johnnie Anderson of Satartia; her sister, Annie Lee Armstead of Batesville; two brothers, Leroy Williams Jr. of Satartia and Vernon Pampley of Cleveland, Ohio; and other relatives and friends, including Robert Richardson and LaKendle Cage, both of Yazoo City.
