GEORGE W. WATTS JR.

George W. “Bill” Watts Jr. died Friday, April 19, 2002, at River Region Medical Center. He was 58.

Mr. Watts was a resident of Vicksburg most of his life. He graduated from Hinds Community College, attended the University of Southern Mississippi and graduated from the University of Mississippi School of Banking. He worked at Trustmark National Bank for 32 years, becoming a vice president before his retirement. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Vicksburg.

He was preceded in death by his parents George W. Sr. and Helen C. Watts.

He is survived by his wife, Linda L. Watts of Vicksburg; one son, Christopher L. Watts of Vicksburg; one daughter, Catheryn E. Frazier of Vicksburg; one sister, Wenonah M. Midyett of Raleigh-Durham, N.C.; one grandson, Adam L. Frazier of Vicksburg; his stepmother, Juanita Watts of Vicksburg; and his stepbrother, Leroy Robinson of Russelville, Ark.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Glenwood Funeral Home with the Rev. John G. McCall officiating. Burial will follow at Green Acres Memorial Park.

Visitation will be at Glenwood Funeral Home from 1 until 3 this afternoon.

Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association or to the Culkin Volunteer Fire Department.

Pallbearers will be Johnny W. Price, Chris Bates, John E. Hebler, G.T. Wilkerson, Ira M. Richardson and Johnny Reynolds.

Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Culkin Volunteer Fire Department, doctors and nursing staff of the sixth floor emergency room and ICU of River Region Medical Center.

JOYCE SMITH EVANS

WIGGINS Joyce Smith Evans died Saturday, April 20, 2002, at Stone County Hospital in Wiggins. She was 66.

Mrs. Evans was the owner of Evans Jewelry in Wiggins. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Wiggins.

She is survived by her husband, Charles G. “Dinky” Evans of Wiggins; two sons, Steven Evans of Wiggins and Chuck Evans of Wiggins; one brother, Bob Smith of Vicksburg; one sister, Patsy Jordan of Altus, Okla.; and five grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at First United Methodist Church. Burial will follow at Perkinston Cemetery.

Visitation will be at First United Methodist Church Family Life Center from 11 a.m. Monday until the service.

Moore Funeral Home of Wiggins has charge of arrangements.

TOMMIE LEE SIMS

Tommie Lee Sims died Monday, April 12, 2002, at Rush Memorial Hospital in Meridian. He was 80.

Mr. Sims was a veteran of World War II, where he served in the U.S. Army. He was a member of the Baptist faith.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Matilda Williams Sims; and a son, Larry Sims.

He is survived by three sons, Anthony Sims of Tacoma, Wash., and Lamar Sims and Benson Sims, both of Chicago; four daughters, Thomasine Sims of Washington, Debra Davis of Rochester, N.Y., and Barbera Jean Sims and Judy Faye Sims, both of Chicago; two brothers, Eddie Sims and Johnnie Sims, both of Vicksburg; three sisters, Emma Hebrow and Bertha Burse, both of Vicksburg, and Rosie Thomas of Chicago; one stedaughter, Bessie Mae Morris of Vicksburg; and 22 grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Joseph Brown officiating. Burial will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery.
