DANNY HARRISON

Danny Harrison died Wednesday, May 8, 2002, at River Region Medical Center. He was 54.

A native of Newton County, Mr. Harrison had lived in Vicksburg for the past 32 years. He graduated from Mississippi State University, where he received a bachelor of science degree in civil engineering. He was a member of the Society of American Military Engineers and had been a licensed professional engineer in Mississippi since 1974.

He served as chief of the Levee and Drainage Section for the Design Branch, Engineering Division with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. He had worked for the Corps for 32 years.

He was a member of Highland Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Dollie Harrison of Vicksburg; one son, John David Harrison of Mathiston; two daughters, Gina H. Channell and and Gina Frances Hull, both of Vicksburg; his father, Buford E. Harrison of Meridian; his mother, Evelyn Harrison of Meridian; one sister, Shelia H. Miller of Meridian; and two grandchildren, Carra Channell and Steven Channell.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Glenwood Chapel with the Rev. Chip Starnes officiating and at 4:30 p.m. Friday at Beulah Cemetery in Little Rock, Miss.

Visitation will be from 5 until 8 tonight at Glenwood Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Richard Blush, Ron Branan, Bill Downey, Ray Emerson, T.K. Grant, C.C. Hamby, Wade Patrick and Rome Rushing.

Honorary pallbearers will be employees of the Levee and Drainage Section for the Design Branch, Engineering Division with the Vicksburg District Corps of Engineers.

Memorials may be made to the Bovina Baptist Church Building Fund.

ANGELA McDANIEL

Angela McDaniel died Monday, May 6, 2002, at University Medical Center in Jackson. She was 34.

Mrs. McDaniel was a member of Stanfield M.B. Church.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Louise Blanson.

She is survived by her husband, Dennis McDaniel of Vicksburg; two sons, Xavier McDaniel and Rakeen McDaniel, both of Vicksburg; her father, Eddie Blanson of Tallulah; two brothers, Jerry Blanson and Terry Blanson, both of Tallulah; and two sisters, Zelda Norris and Sheila Rose, both of Tallulah.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Pleasant Grove No. 2 Church in Tallulah. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery under the direction of Tennant Funeral Home.

GLADYS MAE PERKINS

Services for Gladys Mae Perkins, formerly of Vicksburg, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home with the Rev. Will Moffett officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6 until 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Perkins died Saturday, May 4, 2002, in Chicago. She was 74.

A homemaker, Mrs. Perkins was of the Baptist faith.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Nan Perkins Stewart.

She is survived by a son, Larry Perkins of Jackson; a daughter, Linda McCoy of Vicksburg; one brother, Willie Perkins of St. Louis, Mo.; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.

LOUISE E. RILES

Louise E. Riles died Tuesday, May 7, 2002, at River Region Medical Center. She was 79.

Born in Newellton, Mrs. Riles had been a Vicksburg resident for the past 40 years. She was a homemaker and a member of the Vicksburg Senior Citizens Club and Bowmar Baptist Church.

She is survived by two sons, Steve Riles and David Harrell, both of Vicksburg; a daughter, Kathy R. Caylor of Charlotte, N.C.; two sisters, Kathleen Guffie of Seal Beach, Calif., and Floyce Barnes Kay of Panama City, Fla.; and eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Glenwood Funeral Home with the Rev. Terry White officiating. Burial will follow at Green Acres Memorial Park.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. Friday until the service.

Pallbearers will be Ronnie Jones, Charlie Bennett, Jerry Lynch, Jimmy Renfroe and Rickey McGee.

Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Donald Hall Jr., Dr. Lee Giffin, Dan Guest, Dr. Gary Cheslek, Paul Franco and Marion “Buster” Cupp.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or Bowmar Baptist Church.
