GERTRUDE ELIZABETH BRUMLEY

OAK GROVE, La. Gertrude Elizabeth “Ninnie” Brumley died Thursday, May 16, 2002, at West Carroll Care Center in Oak Grove. She was 102.

Mrs. Brumley was preceded in death by her husband, William Hoyt Brumley; three sons, Willie Brumley, Ruhl Brumley and Wilton Brumley; her father, Freeman Walker; her mother, Nancy Walker; six brothers, J.C. Walker, Hoye Walker, Paul Walker, Salter Walker, Leon Walker and Buddy Walker; and two sisters, Ina Aurthor and Maude Walker.

She is survived by three sons, Elton Brumley and Clyde Brumley, both of Oak Grove, and Walter Brumley of Columbus; five daughters, Gladys Bradford and Irene Allen, both of Oak Grove, Aliece Welch of Wichita, Kan., Vernice Thames of Monticello and Hazel Ladner of Jackson; two sisters, Berdie Barnhill of Shreveport, La., and Helen Salley of Pleasant Hill, La.; 33 grandchildren; 69 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; and one great-great-great-grandchild.

Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Trinity Baptist Church in Oak Grove with the Revs. Gayle Riles and Paul Ninemire and Tony Brumley officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Corner Cemetery in Forest, La., under the direction of Cox Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons.

MARY M. RANEY

Mary M. Raney died Friday, May 17, 2002, at River Region Medical Center. She was 67.

A native of Yazoo City, Mrs. Raney had lived in Vicksburg most of her life.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Elzy Kemp and Callie Miles Hampton; a sister, Rena Ronell Hampton; and two brothers, Robert Lamar Hampton and Joseph Hampton.

She is survived by her husband, Robert E. Raney of Vicksburg; a daughter, Diane Cook of Vicksburg; three sons, Billy Raney, Bobby Raney and Johnny Raney, all of Vicksburg; three brothers, William Clifton Hampton of New Hampshire, Elbert Hampton of El Dorado, Ark., and Ray Hampton of Washington, D.C.; four sisters, Mary E. Chester of Vicksburg, Margie Fay Milo of Vallejo, Calif., Jeannie C. Ables of Panama City, Fla., and Gloria Pettway of Vicksburg; 10 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and other relatives, including Hope Raney and Diane Raney, both of Vicksburg.

Fisher-Riles Funeral Home has charge of the arrangements.
