DEBRA LYNN DeWEESE

TALLULAH Debra Lynn DeWeese died Saturday, May 18, 2002, at River Region Medical Center. She was 38.

A homemaker, Mrs. DeWeese was a member of Meadow Grove M.B. Church.

She is survived by her husband, Larry Gene DeWeese of Tallulah; two sons, Brandon DeWeese and Derrick DeWeese, both of Tallulah; her parents, Barney and Shirley Garner of Tallulah; a sister, Susan G. Johnson of Tallulah; and other relatives, including Johnny Johnson of Tallulah.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Meadow Grove M.B. Church in Tallulah with the Rev. Carl Barnes officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery in Tallulah.

Visitation will be from 5 until 7 tonight at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Danny Carr, Larry Ezell, Jamie Byrd, Chris Arnold, Bill DeWeese, Donald DeWeese, Todd Eakes and Chris BeShea.

LUTHER THOMAS MILLER

TALLULAH Luther Thomas Miller died Saturday, May 18, 2002, at Madison Parish Hospital in Tallulah. He was 85.

Born in Ferriday, La., Mr. Miller had lived in Tallulah for 60 years. He was a retired lumber inspector for the Chicago Mill and Lumber Company. He was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church in Tallulah.

He is survived by a nephew and seven nieces.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Trinity Episcopal church with the Rev. Bill Echols officiating. Burial will follow at Silver Cross Cemetery in Tallulah under the direction of Crothers-Glenwood Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 5:30 until 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the church.

Pallbearers will be Wade Townsend, Casey Townsend, Ray Caldwell, Kevin Caldwell, Billy Wayne Zeigler and Bink Dunn.

CHARLES PORTER JR.

Charles Porter Jr. died Saturday, May 18, 2002, at University Medical Center as the result of injuries received in an automobile accident three weeks ago. He was 35.

Mr. Porter was a member of Greater Oak Grove M.B. Church. He had served in the U.S. Army and was a truck driver.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Mamie Sullivan Porter; and his maternal grandfather, Willie W. Harris Sr.

He is survived by his wife, Edna M. Haynes of Fayetteville, N.C.; his parents, Shirley and Charles Porter of Vicksburg; his brother, Timothy M. Porter of San Antonio, Texas; five sisters, Angela McCullars of Cincinnati, Ohio, Valerie Porter Grant, Kathleen Porter Jones and Pamela Porter Mounger, all of Vicksburg, and Kim Porter Everett of Yazoo City; his grandmother, Katie Sanders Harris of Vicksburg; his grandfather, Robert Porter S. of Oakland, Calif.; and other relatives.

Williams Funeral Service has charge of the arrangements.

ALICE R. STATHAM

BOGALUSA, La. Alice R. Statham died Sunday, May 19, 2002, at her home in Bogalusa, La. She was 92.

Mrs. Statham was a member of Westside Emmanuel Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Otis “Skeet” Statham; a sister, Rose Andras; and three brothers, Iverson “Straw” Rogers, Melvin Rogers and Charles Rogers Jr.

She is survived by a daughter, June Rayborn of Bogalusa; two sons, Otis Statham Jr. of Vicksburg and Charles “Sonny” Statham of Bogalusa; her brother, Lex Rogers of Bogalusa; eight grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Poole-Ritchie Funeral Home in Bogalusa with the Rev. Stephen Teal officiating. Burial will follow Ponemah Cemetery in Bogalusa.

Visitation will be from 6 until 9:30 tonight and from 9 a.m. Tuesday until the service at the funeral home.
