NEW ORLEANS Services for Walter Brent Sr. will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Second Union M.B. Church in Utica. Burial will follow at the Second Union M.B. Church Cemetery under the direction of Tilly Funeral Home of New Orleans.

Mr. Brent died Wednesday, May 15, 2002, in New Orleans. He was 49.

He was preceded in death by his father, J.M. Brent; his grandmother, Eliza Martin Price; and his grandfather, Walter Brent.

He is survived by his son, Walter Brent Jr. of New Orleans; his mother, Pearlen Brent of New Orleans; three sisters, Sharekia Brent and Welane Brent Hall, both of New Orleans, and Bettie Brent Wilson of Raceland, La.; three brothers, Michael Brent and James Brent, both of New Orleans, and Clyde Brent of Houston, Texas; two granddaughters, Jasmine Brent and LaKreshia Brent, both of New Orleans; and other relatives, including, Ella Woods, Eddie Brent, Elsa Brent McGowan and the Wood, Brent, McGowan and Thomas families, all of Vicksburg, and Elizabeth Flowers and the Martin family of Utica.

RICHARD ALBERT GARLEY JR.

DELHI Richard Albert Garley Jr. died Thursday, May 23, 2002, at his home in Delhi. He was 79.

A lifelong resident of Richland Parish, Mr. Garley was a retired farmer. He served in the Army Air Corps in World War II and received the Distinguished Flying Cross for participation in more than 240 missions with the 384th Bomb Group.

He was preceded in death by a son, James Marshall Garley, and four sisters, Bertha McKnight, Alice Helams, Ruth Russell and Bessie Garley.

He is survived by his wife, Laura Garley of Delhi; two sons, Richard A. Garley III of Flora and Larry E. Garley of Delhi; two daughters, Anita Duchesne of Kilbourne, La., and Kathy Hanlon of New Braunfels, Texas; two sisters, Dorothy Bradley of Jackson and Lillian Norris of Stone Mountain, Ga.; and nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Cox Funeral Chapel in Delhi with the Rev. Joe Rountree officiating. Burial will follow at Delhi Masonic Cemetery.

Visitation will be today at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Todd Garley, Michael Garley, Matt Duchesne, Marc Duchesne, Chris Wallace, Terry Ferrington, Bryan Harrell and Micah Duchesne.

WILLIE EARL ODOM SR.

PORT GIBSON Willie Earl Odom Sr. died Tuesday, May 21, 2002, at River Region Medical Center West. He was 68.

Mr. Odom retired as a supervisor from Cooper Lighting after 30 years of service. He was a native of Claiborne County and a member of Christian Chapel Church in Port Gibson.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Julia Bradley Odom, and three brothers, John Charles Odom, Bobby Odom and James Odom Sr.

Survivors include his wife, Rosie Ann Odom; six sons, Willie Earl Odom Jr., Alexus Odom, Bobby Ray Claiborne and Leonard Claiborne, all of Port Gibson, Walter Ryals of Dallas and John Earl Claiborne of Macon, Ga.; four daughters, JoAnn Burrell and Claudette Reed, both of Port Gibson, Jacqueline Johnson of Houston, Texas, and Rose Marie Wilson of Dallas; three brothers, Kenneth Odom Sr. of Port Gibson, Wardell Odom Sr. of Jackson and Ivy Odom Anderson of Mound Bayou; 15 grandchildren; and friends and other relatives, including Mary Lee Griffin and Anita Paige, both of Port Gibson.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Christian Chapel Church with T.H. Harris officiating. Burial will follow at Scott Cemetery in Port Gibson.

Visitation will be from 1 until 5 today at Rollins Chapel in Port Gibson.

CHARLES PORTER JR.

Services for Charles Porter Jr. will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Greater Oak Grove M.B. Church with the Rev. Douglas Bryant officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 until 7 tonight at Williams Funeral Service.

Mr. Porter died Saturday, May 18, 2002, at University Medical Center as the result of injuries received in an automobile accident. He was 35.

Mr. Porter was a member of Greater Oak Grove M.B. Church. He had served in the Army and was a truck driver.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Mamie Sullivan Porter; and his maternal grandfather, Willie W. Harris Sr.

He is survived by his wife, Edna M. Haynes of Fayetteville, N.C.; his parents, Shirley and Charles Porter of Vicksburg; his brother, Timothy M. Porter of San Antonio, Texas; five sisters, Angela McCullars of Cincinnati, Ohio, Valerie Porter Grant, Kathleen Porter Jones and Pamela Porter Mounger, all of Vicksburg, and Kim Porter Everett of Yazoo City; his grandmother, Katie Sanders Harris of Vicksburg; his grandfather, Robert Porter S. of Oakland, Calif.; and other relatives.

HATTIE MAE WILSON

Services for Hattie Mae Wilson will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Vicksburg Family Life Cathedral with Pastor Maxwell Tyler officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 until 7 tonight at Williams Funeral Service.

Mrs. Wilson died Tuesday, May 21, 2002, at River Region Medical Center. She was 45.

A homemaker, Mrs. Wilson was a member of Vicksburg Family Life Cathedral Church.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Gladys B. Richards.

Survivors include her husband, Billy R. Wilson Sr. of Utica; three daughters, Cheryl D. Wilson and Terri L. Wilson, both of Utica, and Cassandra W. Blount of Jackson; a son, Billy R. Wilson Jr. of Utica; her parents, Little D. and Mary Petties of Vicksburg; three sisters, Cleo Thomas and Loriene Lyons, both of Vicksburg, and Priscilla Smith of Natchez; two brothers, Otis Petties and Little D. Petties Jr., both of Vicksburg; four grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.
