HAROLD WAYNE IKERD SR.

DENTON, Texas Harold Wayne Ikerd Sr. died Wednesday, May 29, 2002, at Denton Regional Medical Center in Denton, Texas. He was 61.

Mr. Ikerd was born in Natchez to William Edward Ikerd and Edna Earle Seab Ikerd. He attended high school in Tallulah and graduated from Northeastern Louisiana University in 1965 with a bachelor of science degree in accounting.

He was a real estate developer and homebuilder and worked for the Talmadge Tinsley Co.

Survivors include his wife, Helen Ikerd of Denton; two sons, Harold Wayne Ikerd of Laurel, Md., and William Fulton Ikerd of Dallas; two sisters, Francis Fleetwood of Fairhope, Ala., and Josephine Elizabeth Dorris of Monroe, La.; and a brother, James William Ikerd of Smithville, Md.

A memorial service will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Singing Oaks Church of Christ with Dr. Paul Lakey officiating.

CHARLIE KELLY JR.

Services for Charlie “Man” Kelly Jr. will be at 1 p.m. Sunday at St. Mary’s Center with the Rev. Phillip Burks officiating. Burial will follow at New Poplar Grove Cemetery in Utica.

Visitation will be Saturday at Robbins Funeral Home and from noon Sunday until the service at St. Mary’s Center.

Mr. Kelly died Tuesday, May 28, 2002, at his home. He was 72.

A lifelong resident of Warren County, Mr. Kelly worked as a machine operator and was a member of Hickory Tree Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ledora Franklin Kelly; a son, Bobby Kelly; and sisters and brothers.

Survivors include a son, Larry Kelly of Vicksburg; three daughters, Gwendolyn Kelly George, Mary Meeks and Jessica Erves, all of Vicksburg; 14 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews, and other relatives, including members of the Prentiss family.

ROSIE M. HUELL PALMER

Rosie M. Huell Palmer died Tuesday, May 28, 2002, at River Region Medical Center. She was 77.

Mrs. Palmer was a homemaker and member of Travelers Rest Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John Palmer; one daughter, Ruby Garrett Moore; her parents, Bennie and Emma Carpenter Huell; and three brothers, Louis Huell, Bennie Huell and Albert Huell.

Survivors include three brothers, Charles Huell of Jackson and Bobbie Huell and Clarance Huell, both of Vicksburg; two sisters, Katie Huell Walls of Mesa, Ariz., and Pearl Huell Harris of Vicksburg; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews, including Edward Huell Jr., Bennie Huell, Perry Huell, Shirley Huell Reed and Bettye Brown, whom she reared.

DANIEL TAYLOR

Daniel Taylor died Wednesday, May 29, 2002, at his home. He was 74.

A native and lifelong resident of Yokena, Mr. Taylor was a member of the Mission 66 Church of Christ. He was a U.S. Army veteran and a retired co-driller for Waterways Experiment Station.

He was preceded in death by a son, Charles Taylor; a daughter, Marsha Taylor; and brothers and sisters.

He is survived by his wife, Alfreda Hatchett Taylor; four sons, Daniel Taylor Jr. of California, Larry Taylor of Houston, Texas, Lawrence Taylor of Jackson and John Wesley Taylor of Vicksburg; four daughters, Fannie Greer and Lillie Rose Bingham, both of Jackson, Thelma Jean Jones of Cleveland, Ohio, and Thelma Hills of Vicksburg; two stepsons, Saxton Leon Scott and George Deon Scott, both of Vicksburg; two sisters, Effie Harps and Maude Drake, both of Vicksburg; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and other relatives.

ALORA H. THOMAS

Services for Alora H. Thomas will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at New Rock of Ages M.B. Church with Dr. Michael Reed officiating. Burial will be in Newellton Monday.

Mrs. Thomas died Tuesday, May 28, 2002, at River Region Medical Center. She was 92.

She was a member of Rock of Ages M.B. Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Isiah Thomas; her parents, Garfield and Eliza Henderson; and two sons and two sisters.

She is survived by her goddaughter, Leona Larkins Smith of Vicksburg, and other relatives, including Patricia Gayles of Newellton and Gertrude Reed of Vicksburg.

DAISY TRUITT

Daisy Truitt died Thursday, May 30, 2002, at University Medical Center in Jackson. She was 60.

Mrs. Truitt was a member and deaconess at Seventh-Day Adventist Church. She was employed at Pemberton Square Cinema 4.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ezell and Julia Jones.

She is survived by three sons, Joe Truitt, Terence Truitt and Charles Truitt, all of Vicksburg; a daughter, Mary Truitt of Vicksburg; a brother, Nathaniel Truitt of Port Gibson; 11 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and other relatives and friends.

OLLIE H. WILLIAMS

Services for Ollie H. Williams will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home with the Rev. Anthony Braxton officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Mrs. Williams died Monday, May 27, 2002, at River Region Medical Center. She was 102.

A homemaker, she was a member of King David No. 1 M.B. Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George W. Williams; and her parents, Willie Preston and Harriet Preston.

She is survived by her sister, Bessie Troy of Los Angeles; her niece and caregiver, Alberta Mays of Vicksburg; and other relatives, including Frank Crump Jr. and the Gibson and Boykin families, all of Vicksburg, and the Cowans family of Yokena.
