[05/27/02]Now that the high school season is over, Randy Wright, Jamie Creel and Randy Broome don’t mind discussing baseball with each other.

Tuesday, they will take a lot of their discussions on the field to a group of area baseball players.

The three local baseball coaches collaborated and formed the first Warren County Baseball Clinic.

“We got together and thought it would be a great idea for the city of Vicksburg,” Creel said. “Because there was a group from Jackson who did a camp and we thought it would be better for us to do one, since we are the ones who will be coaching them in high school.”

The camp, which is for players age 7-14, will run through Friday, 8 a.m.-noon each day. Registration forms are available at Goldie’s Restaurant and the camp costs $100.

“We have it set where everybody will do everything,” Broome said. “It’s going to give everybody a chance to play all different positions and learn the techniques.”

The camp will stress fundamentals, such as specialty hitting, base running, infield/outfield play, catching and pitching.

“We all specialize in different areas of the game,” Creel said. “It’s a good thing for the kids.”
