CHARLES F. FUGLER
Charles F. Fugler died Monday, June 10, 2002, at his home. He was 68.
Born in Stanley, La., Mr. Fugler was reared in Ferriday and a resident of Vicksburg. He attended Ole Miss. He served in the U.S. Army with the 101st Airborne Screaming Eagles as a rigger during Vietnam. He retired from the Army after more than 21 years of service. He was employed with the oil field in Lafayette for 14 years before retiring in 1991. He was a member of Zwolle Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by his father, Wallace E. Fugler; and his stepson, Mark B. Gwin Jr.
He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Loomis Fugler of Vicksburg; two sons, Jeffery Charles Fugler of Many, La., and Richard Carl Fugler of Lafayette; his mother, Ray Alla Fugler of Vidalia; a stepson, Steven Gwin; a sister, Patsy Clary of Vidalia; a brother, Max Ray Fugler of Houston, Texas; three grandchildren, Jeffrey Cole Fugler of Many and Mary Katherine Gwin and Stephanie Anne Gwin, both of Vicksburg; and other relatives.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Greenlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Natchez with the Rev. Clyde Ray Webber officiating. Burial will follow under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home in Ferriday.
Pallbearers will be Bruce Brown, Hubert Lee McGlothin, Clarence Prejean, James Rougeau, Johnny Scotto and Scott Tiffee.
Honorary pallbearers will be James “Red” Robertson and Austin Wilson.
BURNELL BANKS HOWARD
Burnell Banks Howard died Tuesday, June 11, 2002, at River Region Medical Center. He was 42.
Mr. Banks was employed at River Region Medical Center in the Housekeeping Department. He was of the Baptist faith.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Howard Sr. and Annie Howard.
Survivors include his wife, Carol Smith Howard of Vicksburg; a son, Christopher Smith of Vicksburg; four daughters, Markita Promise, Annie Sherelle Smith, Whitney Theresa Smith and La’Toya Faye Smith, all of Vicksburg; two brothers, Joseph Howard Jr. and Adam Carter, both of Vicksburg; four sisters, Betty Jean Erves, Pam Banks, Mary Banks and Angela Banks, all of Vicksburg; and three grandchildren and other relatives, including members of the Banks, Brown, Carter, Erves, Smith and Williams families of Vicksburg.
Williams Funeral Service has charge of arrangements.
DEAN WAYNE JOHNSON
Services for Dean Wayne Johnson will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Williams Funeral Service with the Rev. Lester Lacey officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Mr. Johnson died Wednesday, June 5, 2002. He was 21.
He was a member of Mount Zion No. 4 M.B. Church
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Archie Charles Blue Jr.
He is survived by two daughters, T’Onna La’Shay Sims and Te’ Ashia Le’Shaye Sims, both of Vicksburg; his parents, Dean Wayne McKay Sr. and Linda Blue Johnson, both of Vicksburg; two brothers, Victor Johnson Hunter and Dean Wayne McKay Jr., both of Vicksburg; five sisters, Jessica Johnson Stewart of Crystal Springs and Renia Blue Myles, Kimberly McKay, Candice McKay and Constance McKay, all of Vicksburg; his paternal grandparents, Claretha McKay of Vicksburg and Rufus McKay of Carson City, Nev.; his maternal grandmother, Abbie Lee Blue of Vicksburg; his paternal great-grandparents, Birdie Spencer and Louis Spencer, both of Vicksburg; and other relatives.
BARBARA ANN JONES
Barbara Ann Jones died Sunday, June 9, 2002, as the result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident. She was 21.
Miss Jones was employed with MIDD-West Industries and a member of the Baptist faith.
She is survived by her parents, Shirley Ann Jones and Bobby Johnson, both of Vicksburg; four brothers, Jasper Jones, Reginald Jones, Jerome Jones and Marcus Jones, all of Vicksburg; three sisters, Tasha Jones, Jennifer Jones and Nicole Jones, all of Vicksburg; her maternal grandparents, the Rev. Fred Williams and Rosie Williams, both of Vicksburg; her paternal grandmother, Martha Johnson of Vicksburg; and other relatives.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Williams Funeral Service with the Rev. Hardy Lewis officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 until 7 tonight at the funeral home.
