Services for Albert Lee Perkins will be at noon Saturday at Porters Chapel M.B. Church. Burial will follow at the church cemetery under the direction of Dillon-Chisley Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. Saturday until the service at the church.

Mr. Perkins died Tuesday, June 11, 2002, at his home. He was 86.

Mr. Perkins was a deacon at Porters Chapel M.B. Church. A veteran, he served in the Army. He retired from the V.A. Hospital in Downey, Ill., after 26 years of service.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Johnny and Annie Perkins; and three brothers, Joseph Perkins, John Perkins and Ben Perkins.

Survivors include his wife, Rosie Lee Perkins of Vicksburg; one daughter, Dorothy Woodson of Oak Park, Ill.; two brothers, Melvin Perkins of Vicksburg and Robert McCoy of Chicago; four sisters, Ollie Whitaker, Irene Johnson and Thelma Kent, all of Vicksburg, and Mary Fenderson of New Orleans; and four grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and other relatives.

Dillon-Chisley Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.

MARIE VALENTINE RANKIN

Marie Valentine Rankin died Monday, June 10, 2002, at her home. She was 64.

Mrs. Rankin was a native of Delhi, La., and had lived in Vicksburg for 44 years. She worked for Sears and South Central Bell and was employed as a data processor at Vicksburg Medical Center for 20 years.

She was a member of Bowmar Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her father, Daniel Lester Valentine.

Survivors include a daughter, Kalyn R. Rankin of Vicksburg; three sons, Michael Allen Rankin Jr., Bryan Keith Rankin and Darryl Neal Rankin, all of Vicksburg; her mother, Grace Valentine of Delhi; two brothers, Danny Valentine and Jerry Valentine, both of Delhi; two sisters, Ann V. Manthe of Baton Rouge and Earline V. Singer of Memphis, Tenn.; and five grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Fisher-Riles Funeral Home with the Revs. Hancell Bankester and Terry White officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 until 7 tonight at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Pat DeRossette, Merritt Aden, Bobby Nelson, Peter Hall, Shane Cook, Peter Bryan, Rick Atkins and Mike Allred.

BONNIE WATSON

PORT GIBSON Bonnie Watson died Friday, June 7, 2002, at Jeff Anderson Hospital in Meridian. She was 46.

Mrs. Watson was a native of Claiborne County and had lived in Meridian for a number of years. She was a tutor with the Lauderdale School District. She was of the Baptist faith.

She was preceded in death by her father, Robert Graves.

Survivors include her husband, Zachary Watson of Meridian; three sons, Byron Robertson, Fakieth Watson and Ronnie Watson, all of Meridian; two daughters, Shawanda Reynolds and Roshanda Watson, both of Meridian; her mother and stepfather, Mary Lee Moore and Johnnie Moore of Pattison; one brother, Ronnie Moore of Port Gibson; five sisters, Elizabeth Brandon, Jimmie Rankin and Latine Williams, all of Meridian, Willie Ruth Carter of Dallas and Virginia Dee of Pattison; and aunts, uncles, other relatives and friends.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Mercy Seat Baptist Church in Port Gibson with the Rev. Frank McGriggs officiating. Burial will follow at St. Peter’s Cemetery in Pattison.

Visitation will be from noon until 5 p.m. Friday at Rollins Chapel in Port Gibson.
