[06/19/02]The key to beating Manchester Academy in a summer league game Tuesday was simple: give the ball to Key.
St. Aloysius transfer Zane Key pitched a five-inning no-hitter and recorded 14 of 15 possible outs by strikeout in a 10-0 Porters Chapel win.
“He’s been pitching extremely well for us this season,” said PCA coach Randy Wright, who will have the righty for one season of varsity ball. “They couldn’t catch up to his fastball and he was throwing strikes; that’s the key.”
In the second game of the double header, Dean Hill drew a bases loaded walk in the bottom of the seventh inning as the Eagles completed the two-game sweep, 4-3.
Joseph Ivey got the win.
Porters Chapel will play Monday against the Vicksburg Thunder, made up of St. Aloysius players, at Porters Chapel at 5 p.m.
