ROSA LEE CARTER
Services for Rosa Lee “Wee Wee” Carter will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Cedar Grove M.B. Church, Grange Hall Road. Burial will follow at Mount Givens Cemetery in Yokena.
Visitation will be from 6 until 7 p.m. Friday at Dillon-Chisley Funeral Home and from 10 a.m. Saturday until the service at the church.
Mrs. Carter died Thursday, June 20, 2002, at Trace Haven Nursing Home. She was 74.
Mrs. Carter was retired from Wal-Mart. She was a member of Morning Star M.B. Church where she served on the mother board and was a former member of the choir.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Annie Martin and Cora Bell McKeel and Fred Carter Sr.
She is survived by two sons, Larry Carter and Leon Carter, both of Vicksburg; two daughters, Beverly Carter Boyd of Huntsville, Ala., and Terry Haynes of Niagara Falls, N.Y.; nine brothers, the Rev. Earl Cosey, the Rev. Erwin Cosey, Fred Carter Jr., Bobby Carter, Sherman Carter and Tony Carter, all of Vicksburg, Otis Cosey and Andrew Cosey, both of Dowagiac, Mich., and Robert Cosey of Natchez; six sisters, May Bell Hill and Agnes Bacon, both of Dowagiac, Dorothy Avance of South Bend, Ind., Terry Moore of Vicksburg, Yvonne Tribble of Chicago, Louise Jones of South Carolina; 13 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and other relatives, including Lora Vell Topps of St. Louis.
NELL TRAVIS COLLINS
UTICA Nell Travis Collins died Wednesday, June 26, 2002, at her home in Utica. She was 90.
Mrs. Collins was born in Heidelberg and had lived in Hinds County since 1936. She was a graduate of Mississippi Woman’s College in Hattiesburg and was an alumnae of William Carey College. She was a retired teacher, librarian and farmer. She was a member of the Order of Easter Star for 72 years, the Utica Better Living Club for 50 years, Daughters of the American Revolution First Families of Mississippi and Utica Baptist Church and was a past state officer in Mississippi Homemakers Clubs.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Edward Collins Jr.; and her grandson, Dr. Edward Noel Collins.
She is survived by her daughter, Dr. Mary Collins Landin of Utica; three sons, Lt. Col. Thomas E. Collins III of Lauderdale, Colo., Dr. Madison Travis Collins of Lilburn, Ga., and Everette H. Collins of Houma, La.; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Utica Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Lebanon Church Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 until 8 tonight at Glenwood Funeral Home in Utica.
Pallbearers will be Thomas C. Landin, Martin T. Collins, Jason T. Collins, Calvin F. Collins, Donald W. Martin, E.H. Martin and W. Shelby Hubbard.

ROBERT A. EVANS
Robert A. “Bobby” Evans died Wednesday, June 26, 2002, at his home. He was 70.
Born in Vicksburg, Mr. Evans was the son of the late Evelyn Miller and Robert Frederick Evans Sr. He was a graduate of St. Aloysius High School and attended Spring Hill College in Mobile and Louisiana State University. He retired as owner of Mississippi Lumber Company.
He was past director of the Mississippi Building Materials Dealers Association, a former member of the Vicksburg-Warren Home Builders Association, a former committee member of Boy Scouts Troop 7, a member of former Mayor Joe Loviza’s City Advisory Committee and a member of the advisory committee of the River Region Home Corporation.
He served in the Army during the Korean War and received the Army Commendation Medal.
Mr. Evans was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church where he was a daily communicant and a Eucharistic minister. He was a former member of the parish council, the Diocesan School Board and the Diocesan Pastoral Council.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Rita Riddle Evans; two children, Heather Evans and Charles Joseph “Joe” Evans; two sisters, Madeline E. Franco and Evelyn E. Mouton; and four brothers, Robert F. Evans Jr., John W. Evans, Miller Evans and Harry L. Evans.
Survivors include his wife, Bonnie Jabour Evans; three daughters, Therese Evans Winschel of Vicksburg, Shawn Evans Prince of Tupelo and Angie Jabour Hembree of Gluckstadt; seven sons, Robert A. Evans Jr. of Jacksonville, Fla., Gregory M. Evans, John Thomas “Jay” Evans, Jamie Jabour and David Jabour, all of Vicksburg, Paul Jabour of Utica and Jody M. Jabour of Houston, Texas; his sister, Mary Barber of Baton Rouge; four brothers, Dr. Ed Evans of Tallulah, Brother Carl Evans S.C. of Houma, La., Earl F. Evans of Houston and George Q. Evans of Jackson; 23 grandchildren.
Services will be Monday at St. Paul under the direction of Nowell-Flippin Funeral Home, assisted by funeral director Charles Riles.
Visitation will Sunday at the church.

HELEN M. PILATE
Services for Helen M. Pilate were at noon today at Greater Mount Lebanon M.B. Church on Alpine Street with the Rev. Larry Clark officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery under the direction of W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home.
Mrs. Pilate died Friday, June 21, 2002, at River Region Medical Center. She was 72.
She was a member of Greater Mount Lebanon Baptist Church and the Honeysuckle Homemakers Club.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Pilate; her parents, William Marshall and Thelma Templeton Marshall; a brother, William “Rashad” Marshall, and two sisters, Jewel Marshall and Barbara Wince.
She is survived by two sons, Roderick J. Pilate of Vicksburg and Darryl T. Pilate of Chicago; two daughters, Johnna H. Pilate of Jackson and Tammye P. Christmas of Vicksburg; a sister, Marilyn Patterson of Vicksburg; six grandchildren and other relatives.
ARIELLA I. WILSON
PORT GIBSON Ariella I. Wilson, infant daughter of Edwin and Marilyn Wilson of Port Gibson, died Tuesday, June 25, 2002, at University Medical Center.
Ariella was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Charles Wilson and Mildred Wilson.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by 10 brothers, Charles Wilson, Darryl Wilson, Jonathan Wilson, Joshua Wilson, Samuel Wilson, Issachar Wilson, Bilgah Wilson, Asher Wilson, Mordeci Wilson and Jeremiah Wilson, all of Port Gibson; four sisters, Tamar Wilson, Abigail Wilson, Naomi Wilson and Zion Wilson, all of Port Gibson; her maternal grandparents, L.D. and Katie Walker of Mendenhall; and other relatives.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at the Wilson Family Cemetery in Port Gibson with Billy Drake officiating. Burial will follow under the direction of Williams Funeral Home.
