HATTIE LEE BEALS

ROLLING FORK Hattie Lee Beals died Wednesday, June 26, 2002, at Sharkey-Issaquena Hospital in Rolling Fork. She was 61.

Mrs. Beals is survived by her son, Jerome Beals of Chicago; four daughters, Brenda Kay Jackson Smith, Hattie Marcella McGee and Andrea Demetrica Jackson-Beals, all of Rolling Fork, and Edna Jean Jackson of Vicksburg; her mother, Rosie Lee Moore; five brothers, Tommy Lee Moore of Chicago, J.C. Moore of Rolling Fork, Richard Moore of Atlanta and Jessie Moore and L.C. Moore, both of Greenville; four sisters, Louise Bailey, Bertha Banks and Mary Lee Moore, all of Rolling Fork, and Dorothy Monk of San Antonio, Texas; 11 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and other relatives, including Everette Spells of Hollandale and Henry Jackson of Rolling Fork.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Green Chapel M.B. church in Rolling Fork with Charlie Ceasar officiating. Burial will follow at Green Chapel Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6 until 7 tonight at Walker Funeral Home in Rolling Fork and from noon Tuesday until the service at the church.

GLADYS GIBSON

Services for Gladys Gibson were at 11 a.m. today at Glenwood Funeral Home with the Rev. Charles Hutzler and Dr. Eric Thomas officiating. Burial followed at Green Acres Memorial Park.

Mrs. Gibson died Saturday, June 29, 2002, at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland. She was 86.

A native of Kentwood, La., Mrs. Gibson had lived in Vicksburg for the past 69 years. She graduated from Kentwood High school. She served as director of nurses at Kuhn Memorial Hospital and retired as the director of nurses at the Vicksburg Hospital. She was a member of First Baptist Church where she was a member of Deborah Sunday school class.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Everett C. Gibson.

She is survived by her son, Everett Gibson Jr. of Vicksburg; two grandchildren, Tammy Case of Peach Tree, Ga., and Tony Gibson of Woodville; three great-grandchildren; and other relatives, including Ann Gibson of Vicksburg.

Pallbearers will be Rex Brown, Arthur Lagg, Bryan Lagg, Gerry Bragg, David Upchurch and Raymond Evans.

Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Jimmy Vessell, Sam Lusco, David Lee Gibson, Dr. Daniel Edney, Dr. Murray Whitaker and Jeff Holland.

Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, 1607 Cherry St., Vicksburg, Miss. 39180.

GENEVA LEWIS

Geneva Lewis died Friday, June 28, 2002, at River Region Medical Center. She was 88.

A native of Warren County, Mrs. Lewis was a member of St. Peter’s M.B. Church. She was also a member of the Eastern Star.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Hezekiah Lewis.

She is survived by her daughter, Martha White of Vicksburg; her brother, Percy Miller of Chicago; two grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and other relatives and friends.

Robbins Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.

JOHN L. McGARRH

Services for John L. McGarrh were at 11 a.m. today at Green Acres Cemetery with the Rev. Gene Jacks officiating. Burial followed under the direction of Fisher-Riles Funeral Home.

Mr. McGarrh died Friday, June 28, 2002, at River Region Medical Center. He was 64.

A Stewart native, he lived most of his life in Redwood. He was a graduate of Redwood High School and was a self-employed welder. He owned and operated J&B Welding and was of the Methodist faith.

He is survived by his wife, Brenda McGarrh of Redwood; three sons, John McGarrh Jr. of Vicksburg and Timothy Allen McGarrh and Mitchell Wayne McGarrh, both of Madison; one daughter, Angela Burton of Braxton; one sister, Dorothy Smith of Jackson; two brothers, Melvin McGarrh of Memphis and Billy McGarrh of Vicksburg; and four grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Eddie Hoover, Tay Everett, Charles Dirago, Bill McMullen, Nate Skipworth, Willie Skipworth and Ray Tanner.

Honorary pallbearers were Mike Smith, Frank Keen, James Stevens, Art Miller, John Adcock, Bill Lee, Hoyt Wright and Edward Willis.
