WILLIE GRIFFIN SR.

Willie “Fast Black” Griffin Sr. died Friday, June 28, 2002, at River Region Medical Center. He was 67.

Mr. Griffin was a self-employed carpenter.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Emma Nash and Wash Griffin, and two brothers.

He is survived by his wife, Mattie Cooper Griffin of Vicksburg; five sons, Willie Griffin Jr., Leroy Griffin, Rodney Griffin, Clarence Griffin, and Tommy Curtis, all of Vicksburg; five daughters, Ingrid Winters and Sengrid Griffin, both of Vicksburg; Debora Walker and Mary Griffin, both of Orange, Texas, and Diane Washington of Los Angeles, Calif.; two sisters, Rosie Lee Griffin of Vicksburg and Charlene Nash of Detroit, Mich.; 26 grand children and four great-grandchildren.

JOHN L. McGARRH

John L. McGarrh died Friday, June 28, 2002, at River Region Medical Center. He was 64.

Mr. McGarrh, a Stewart native, lived most of his life in Redwood where he was a self-employed welder. He was a Methodist.

He is survived by his wife, Brenda McGarrh of Redwood; three sons, John McGarrh Jr., Timothy Allen McGarrh and Mitchell Wayne McGarrh; one daughter, Angela Burton; one sister, Dorothy Smith; one brother, Melvin McGarrh; and four grandchildren.

Fisher Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.

LOUIS ALBERT NICHOLS III

Louis Albert Nichols III died Wednesday, June 26, 2002, at River Region Medical Center. He was 59.

Mr. Nichols was born in Vicksburg, graduated from H.V. Cooper High School in 1960 and attended Hinds Community College. Before his retirement, he worked as an electrician, with Illinois Central Railroad and Presto Manufacturing. He was a Baptist.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Evelyn Fletcher Nichols.

He is survived by his father, Louis A. Nichols, and one sister, Cameron Nichols Mayer.

Mr. Nichols donated his body to University Medical Center.

FREDDIE TISDALE

DELHI, LA. Freddie Tisdale died Thursday, June 27, 2002, at E.A. Conway Medical Center in Monroe, La. He was 52.

Mr. Tisdale was born in Oxford. He operated Napp’s Bar in Delhi. He was preceded in death by his parents, Steve Ogden and Lucille Ogden and by his adoptive mother, Dollie Call.

He is survived by his wife, Faye “Punkin” Tisdale of Delhi; two sons, Kevin Tisdale and Todd Tisdale, both of Delhi; one brother, Harold Ogden of Tallulah, La.; two sisters, Evelyn Gates of Houston, Texas and Gail Molberg of Duncanville, Texas; and three grandchildren.

Services will be 4 p.m. today at Cox Funeral Chapel in Delhi with the Rev. Marion Collier officiating. Burial will follow at Lamar Cemetery in Delhi.

Visitation is today from 9 a.m. until the time of service.

Pallbearers will be Adam Plunkett, Brandon Pace, Joe Amacker, Mark Wyatt, Larry Cox and Tony Concelli.
