Hurricanes beat North Jackson to stay perfect

[07/08/02]The Vicksburg Hurricanes 10-year-olds’ team stayed perfect in their state tournament Sunday with a 7-5 win over North Jackson.

The Hurricanes are scheduled to play host Meridian, also undefeated, in today’s winner’s bracket final of the double-elimination tournament.

Ryno Martin-Nez went 3-for-4 and Stephen Evans went 2-for-2 in the win.

Dee Kelly singled in his first at bat with the team.

Dylan Wooten pitched two innings to take the win, while Justin Rushing pitched the sixth to earn the save.

The Hurricanes opened a 6-4 lead at the end of the second inning and both teams added single runs in the sixth.
