Walter G. “School Boy” Lewis died Wednesday, July 10, 2002, at his home. He was 72.

A native of Vicksburg, Mr. Lewis attended Vicksburg Public Schools. He served in the U.S. Army and Army Reserve for 30 years and was a veteran of the Korean War. He was retired from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Vicksburg District and a member of Mercy Seat Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Lucille Thompson Lewis; and his parents, Annie Currie and Joe Lewis.

He is survived by two sons, Ward Lewis of St. Paul, Minn., and Larry Stewart of Clinton; his daughter, Monique Jefferson of Vicksburg; his sister, Emma L. McKenzie of Vicksburg; his brother, Albert “Codey” Galloway of Vicksburg; and other relatives, including the Berry family.

Williams Funeral Services has charge of arrangements.

KATHERINE TREVILLION NICHOLAS

PORT GIBSON Katherine Trevillion Nicholas died Sunday, July 7, 2002, at Claiborne County Hospital in Port Gibson. She was 51.

A resident of Port Gibson, Mrs. Nicholas was a graduate of Alcorn State University. She retired from Alcorn State University building and grounds department as a secretary. She was a member of Tillman Chapel Christian Church.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Tammie Trevillion; and her grandmother, Margaret Johnson.

She is survived by her husband, James Nicholas of Tillman; her mother, Geraldine Ellis of San Bernardino, Calif.; her father, Hiran Trevillion of Richmond, Calif.; her daughter, Sammie Trevillion of Tillman; three brothers, Christopher Peavy of Mesa, Ariz., and Kenneth Trevillion and Levella Trevillion, both of Richmond; four sisters, Felicia Jenkins, Janet Trevillion and Lavern Trevillion, all of Richmond, and Mary Tyler of Ohio; three grandchildren; and other relatives, including Ruby Barnes of Tillman.

Services will be at noon Saturday at Tillman Chapel Christian Church in Tillman with the Rev. Walter Chambers officiating. Burial will follow at Tillman Chapel Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 1 until 6 p.m. today at Rollins Funeral Home in Port Gibson.

SUSIE BELL NORRIS

Susie Bell Norris died Thursday, July 11, 2002, at River Region Medical Center. She was 86.

A retired housekeeper, Mrs. Norris was a member of New Mount Pilgrim M.B. Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Dever Norris; her father, Frank Kelly; and her mother, Emma Jackson Kelly.

She is survived by her son, Charles Bingham of Euless, Texas, two daughters, Alma Taylor and Ernestine Adams, both of Vicksburg; 15 grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and other relatives.

W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.

JAMES J. SAKULIN

Services for James J. “Jim” Sakulin will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Fisher-Riles Funeral Home with the Rev. Kent Campbell, pastor of Woodlawn Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will follow with military honors at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. Saturday until the service at the funeral home.

Mr. Sakulin died Wednesday, July 10, 2002, at River Region Medical Center. He was 58.

A native of Iowa, Mr. Sakulin was a U.S. Army veteran, having served during the Vietnam War and retiring in 1985. He was a member of Woodlawn Baptist Church where he was a member of the Senior Saints Sunday school class.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Glen and Ida Kline Sakulin; and a brother, Dick Sakulin.

He is survived by his wife, Kay Cobb Sakulin of Vicksburg; three sisters, Sue Shazer of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Jane Hettich of Reno, Nev., and Glenna Stutzman of Iowa City, Iowa; and two brothers, Glen Sakulin of Rock Island, N.Y., and John Sakulin of Cedar Rapids.

Honorary pallbearers will be Chris Birdsong, Carroll Smith, Carl Pettway, Jerry Bailey, James Henry, Wayne Farris, Rick Kirschenbaum, Pete Stubbs, Charles Sibley, H.C. Sibley, Phil Irwin, Henry Irwin, J.B. Middleton, employees of Wal-Mart Pharmacy and the Senior Saints Sunday school class of Woodlawn Baptist Church.

KEN E. SHARP SR.

PRESTON Services for Ken E. Sharp Sr. were at 11 a.m. today at Glenwood Funeral Home with Dr. Gordon Sansing officiating. Burial followed at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Mr. Sharp died Monday, July 8, 2002, at Rush Foundation Hospital in Meridian. He was 57.

Born in Mobile, Ala., he had lived in Arizona. He was a former resident of Vicksburg where he owned and operated E&S Cabinet Shop. He had lived in Neshoba County since 1988. He was of the Baptist faith.

He is survived by his son, Ken Sharp Jr. of Vicksburg; his daughter, Tonya Taylor of Gilbert, Ariz.; his mother, Gladys R. Sharp of Tallulah; his sister, Carolyn Prince of Tallulah; four grandchildren; and other relatives, including Jeanette Whitten of Preston.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Glenwood Funeral Home with Dr. Gordon Sansing officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 until 8 tonight at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Bobby Middleton, Greg Evans, Ralph Allison, Walter Tedeton, Stephan Kaskie and Cliffton Lee.
