AUDIS WOODROW HATTEN
OAK GROVE Audis Woodrow Hatten died Thursday, July 11, 2002. He was 83.
Mr. Hatten was born in Oak Grove. He retired from the Air Force as a major. A combat veteran of World War II, he served with the 9th Air Force as a bombardier in North Africa. After returning to Oak Grove, he was employed as a car salesman with Keller Ford Company and Boggs Ford Company.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William Denton Hatten and Bertha Carol Hatten, and a sister, Luta Hatten.
He is survived by his wife, Jeanette H. Hatten of Oak Grove; one daughter, Sandra Mills of Topeka, Kan.; two sisters, Eula “Baby” Cupit of Oak Grove and Zula Richey of Cole Spring, Texas; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Cox Chapel-Oak Grove with the Rev. Jimbo Herring officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery.
Visitation will be at the funeral home from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m. today and from 8 a.m. Monday until the service.
Memorials may be made to the Disabled American Veterans Charitable Trust, 3725 Alexandria Pike, Cold Spring, KY 41076.
Pallbearers will be his, grandsons Kevin McCarter, Kyle McCarter and James McCarter,1 and Todd Burnett, Ed Lester, Jim Lester and Rick Lester.
ESSIE D. BRACEY MORGAN
Essie D. Bracey Morgan died Saturday, July 13, 2002, at her home in Vicksburg. She was 74.
Mrs. Morgan was born in Vicksburg and was retired from Marcus Furniture.
She was a member of Cool Springs M.B. Church, the Heroines of Jericho, the Willing Workers Club, the Cool Springs Burial Society and the Cool Springs Usher Board, of which she was a past treasurer.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Grady Lee Morgan; her parents, Henry Bracey and Nettie Bracey; four brothers, John Bracey, Henry Bracey, Hayward Bracey and Joe Bracey; and one sister, Easter B. Williams.
She is survived by two sons, Casey Lee Morgan of Vicksburg and Grady Lee Morgan Jr. of Riverside, Calif.; two sisters, Lucille Bracey and Nettie Bracey, both of Vicksburg; six grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.
THELMA LOUISE McALLISTER
Thelma Louise McAllister died Friday, July 12, 2002, at River Region Medical Center. She was 55.
Mrs. McAllister was born in Wiggins and had lived in Vicksburg since 1968. She was employed by Signature Works in Hazlehurst.
She was a member of the Council of the Blind and the First Baptist Church of Foxworth.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis McAllister.
She is survived by her mother, Irene Sanders of Vicksburg; four sons, Daniel McAllister, Dwight McAllister, Joe McAllister and Charles McAllister, all of Vicksburg; and one sister, Carol Beam of Tucson, Ariz.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Glenwood Funeral Home with the Rev. Rick McAlister officiating. A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. at Foxworth Cemetery in Foxworth.
Visitation will be at the funeral home from 2 until 5 p.m. today.
Pallbearers will be Larry Hudgins, Frank Keen, Derick Jones, Billy Wigley, Andy Arthur and My Nguyen.
Honorary pallbearer will be Clifton Thornell.
SUSIE BELL NORRIS
Susie Bell Norris died Thursday, July 11, 2002, at River Region Medical Center. She was 86.
Mrs. Norris was born in Warren County and was related to local families including the Kelly, Jones, Adams, Turner, Nelson, Brown and Jackson families.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank Kelly and Emma Jackson Kelly; her husband, Dever Norris; and one daughter, Alice Jackson.
She is survived by two daughters, Alma Taylor and Samistine Adams; two brothers, Charles Kelly and Rueben Kelly; two sisters, Frankie Kelly-Hall and Pauline Harris, all of Vicksburg; 13 grandchildren; and great-grandchildren.
Services will be at noon Monday in the chapel at W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home with the Rev. Henry Williams officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
