WILLIAM D. JONES
ROLLING FORK William D. Jones died Friday, July 19, 2002, at Greenwood-Leflore Hospital. He was 56.
Born in Vicksburg, Mr. Jones was a longtime resident of Rolling Fork. He farmed and raised catfish for a number of years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Daisy Jones, and a sister, Atla Marie Jones.
He is survived by two daughters, Hope Powers of Wayside and Peggy Foster of Blaine; one son, Mark Jones of Rolling Fork; a brother, Charles Jones Jr. of Pace, Fla.; and two sisters, Doris Highsmith of Pace and Nancy Thompson of Vicksburg.
Services will be later in Pace.
Smith Funeral Home of Greenville has charge of arrangements.
VICTOR LEE
Victor Lee died Saturday, July 20, 2002, at his home in Vicksburg. He was 89.
Mr. Lee was born in Bay Springs and moved to Vicksburg in 1973. He was a retired carpenter and of the Baptist faith.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Annie C. Lee.
He is survived by three sons, Jessie Lee of Wisner, La., and John Lee and Jimmy Lee, both of Vicksburg; one daughter, Eleanor Phelps of Jackson; one sister, Viola Crosser of Monroe, La., and nine grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Glenwood Funeral Home with the Rev. Michael Fields officiating. Burial will follow at Green Acres Memorial Garden.
Visitation will be at Glenwood Funeral Home from 5 until 8 tonight.
Pallbearers will be Tommy Runnels, Danny Butler, Ray Embry, Tommy Holcomb, Don Robertson, Darryl Hale, Wallace Goza and Mike Erwin.
ELYNE McMAHON
ROLLING FORK Elyne McMahon died Saturday, July 20, 2002, in Farmersville, Texas. She was 101.
Mrs. McMahon was born in Edwards and had lived in Rolling Fork for most of her life. She was a longtime member of Rolling Fork United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her son, Walton McMahon.
She is survived by two sons, Junis Parham McMahon of West Memphis, Ark., and Thomas Warren McMahon of Farmersville; a sister, Minnie Brent of Jackson; and eight grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Rolling Fork United Methodist Church. Burial will follow at Mound Cemetery in Rolling Fork.
Visitation will be from 5 until 8 tonight at Glenwood Funeral Home in Rolling Fork.
Pallbearers will be Larry McMahon, Thomas McMahon, Matthew McMahon, Parham McMahon, Robert Martin and Eddie Elder.
RUTHIE BELL ROBERSON
TALLULAH Ruthie Bell Roberson died Saturday, July 20, 2002, at Olive Branch Senior Care Center in Tallulah. She was 79.
Mrs. Roberson was born in Gilbert, La., and had lived in Madison Parish for 60 years. She was a retired pharmacy sales clerk and was a member of First Baptist Church of Tallulah.
Survivors include a son, Charles L. Roberson Jr. of Tallulah; two daughters, Patricia Trichell and Juanita Sue Robinson, both of Vicksburg; four brothers, Robert Lee Melton Jr. of Monterey, La., M.L. Melton of Greer, S.C., Mickey Melton of Tallulah and Leonard Melton of Corvallis, Ore.; one sister, Ann Gourley of Greensboro, N.C.; and eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Services were at 10 a.m. today at First Baptist Church of Tallulah with the Rev. John Rushing officiating. Burial followed at Silver Cross Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Sean Trichell, Brian Robinson, Greg Robinson, Mike Melton, Jack Melton and Ronald Melton.
Honorary pallbearer was Matt Roberson.
MARIE CUMMINS WEAVER
Marie Cummins Weaver died Sunday, July 21, 2002, at River Region Medical Center. She was 84.
Mrs. Weaver was born in Beebe, Ark., and had lived in Vicksburg for the past 50 years. She retired in 1978 from Westinghouse Corp.
She was a member of First Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lee J. Weaver.
Survivors include three sons, Billy Gene Weaver of Pearl and Donny James Weaver and Jimmy Lee Weaver, both of Vicksburg; three daughters, Carolyn Childs and Barbara Gail Fowler, both of Vicksburg, and Marjorie Lee Hatcher of Pascagoula; two brothers, Cecil Cummins and Clarence Cummins, both of Peoria, Ill.; and two sisters, Alice Harden and Patsy Ruth Sykes, both of Little Rock, Ark.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Glenwood Funeral Home with Dr. Eric Thomas officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. Wednesday until the service at Glenwood Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Joey McGill, James Weaver, Mike Weaver, Sam Avery, Billy Whitley, Jack Tillotson and Kyle Robertson.
Honorary pallbearers will be Wayne Pollard, Dr. Paul Pierce, Hays Hatcher, Bob Donohue, Gates Weaver, Wayne Dennis, Mitch Weaver, Billy Childs, Tim Hatcher and Daniel Donohue.
FLORENCE H. WILLIAMS
Florence H. Williams died Saturday, July 20, 2002, at River Region Medical Center . She was 95.
Mrs. Williams was born in Vicksburg and lived in Transylvania, La., for 40 years. She returned to Vicksburg in 1991. She was a member of the Trinity Baptist Church of Vicksburg.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Tom Williams.
She is survived by her three daughters, Jean W. O’Neal of Dallas, Texas, Melda W. Tunnell of Van, Texas, and Flora S. Floyd of Vicksburg; her brother, Charlie Jobe of Tallulah; and five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Services were to be at 2 p.m. today at Glenwood Funeral Home with the Rev. Billy Gerald officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Visitation was be at Glenwood Funeral Home from noon today until the service.
Pallbearers will be Jim O’Neal, Joe Swan, Ronald Floyd, Donald Floyd, Bill Floyd and Dan Harmon.
