CATHERINE ELIZABETH McCOY

ROXIE Catherine Elizabeth McCoy died Thursday, July 18, 2002, at Natchez Community Hospital. She was 77.

Mrs. McCoy, a homemaker, was born in Franklin County and was a member of Roxie First Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert L. McCoy Sr.; her parents, Edmond Johnson and Minerva Starks; a daughter, Betty Floyd Sayles; two sons, Jessie McCoy and Colmon Jackson; a granddaughter, Jessica McCoy; and two brothers and three sisters.

Survivors include four sons, Robert McCoy Jr. and Willie McCoy, both of Roxie, Edmond McCoy of Miami, Fla., and Ricky McCoy of Fayette; five daughters, Peachie Morgan, Joyce Anderson, Marvel Carter, Amanda Hilliard and Debra Parker, all of Roxie; a brother, Vernon Johnson of Jackson, La.; 36 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Roxie First Baptist Church with the Rev. Carl Jackson officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6 until 8 p.m. Wednesday at Rollins Chapel in Fayette.

Pallbearers will be Robert McCoy Jr., Edmond McCoy, Willie Joe McCoy, Ricky McCoy, Broderick McCoy, Christopher Floyd and Geoffrey Anderson.

Honorary pallbearers will be Jason Morgan, Michael Morgan, Terry Hilliard, Derrick Morgan, Roland Hunter, Bennie Carter, Robert Earl Hall, Willie Lowe and Arthur Ray Briggs.

DEAN C. MILLETT

SAN JOSE, Calif. Dean C. Millett died Saturday, July 20, 2002, at his home in San Jose, Calif. He was 68.

Mr. Millett was born in Pierre, S.D., and was reared in Vicksburg. He graduated in 1952 from Carr Central High School. He attended Louisiana Tech University in Ruston, served in the Army as a military policeman and graduated as a mechanical engineer from the City College of San Francisco.

Mr. Millett worked in technical marketing for a number of companies, including Vacuum Electronics Corp., Olivetti and Hewlett-Packard. He was a member of the Lutheran Church, Missouri Synod.

He was preceded in death by his father, Clarence J. Millett of Vicksburg, and his grandson, Daniel White of Loveland, Colo.

He is survived by his wife, Lana Wink Millett of San Jose; a daughter, Lee Ann White of Loveland; a son, Steven Dean Millett of Utica; his mother, Roberta Lien Millett of Vicksburg; three stepchildren, Shawn Calhoun, Todd Calhoun and Mark Calhoun; a brother, Gary J. Millett of Westlake Village, Calif.; two sisters, Robin Millett Holmes and Rae Millett Eikert, both of Vicksburg; and four grandchildren, six stepgrandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

No services are planned. Memorials may be made to a favorite charity.

ROBERT MORGAN

Robert Morgan died Saturday, July 20, 2002, at River Region Medical Center. He was 74.

A native of Edwards, Mr. Morgan was a resident of Vicksburg. He was a retired farmer. He was of the Baptist faith.

He is survived by his son, Timothy Tillman of Vicksburg; two daughters, Edith Pollard of Vicksburg and Barbara Caston of Champaign, Ill.; his sister, Roberta Carter of Edwards; 12 grandchildren; and other relatives, including John Carter.

Robbins Funeral Home has charge of the arrangements.

BEATRICE THOMAS

HERMANVILLE Beatrice Thomas died Sunday, July 21, 2002, at Central Mississippi Medical Center. She was 89.

Mrs. Thomas was a native and lifelong resident of Carpenter. She was a retired school teacher at Forest Hill High School. She was a member of Utica Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, R.L. Thomas; and a daughter, Betty Jo Thomas.

She is survived by her son, Tom Thomas of Ellicott, Md.; her sister, Joy Harris of Hazlehurst; two grandchildren, Benjamin Thomas and Sarah Thomas, both of Ellicott; and other relatives, including Pam Thomas of Ellicott and Jonelle Harris of Hazlehurst.

Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at Utica Baptist Church with the Rev. Danny Rutland officiating. Burial and services will be at 4 p.m. at Hazlehurst Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6 until 8 tonight at Glenwood Funeral Home.

JILL C. WHITAKER

TALLULAH Jill C. Whitaker died Sunday, July 21, 2002. She was 20.

Born in Tallulah, Miss Whitaker graduated in 2000 from Tallulah High School. She was a waitress and would have attended the University of Louisiana at Monroe in the fall. She was a member of First Baptist Church.

Survivors include her father, James E. Whitaker of Tallulah; her mother and stepfather, Cynthia A. and Maurice Machen of Tallulah; two sisters, Jenny Catherine Hopkins of Monroe and Ashton Kelsey Machen of Tallulah; two brothers, Jason Kyle Whitaker and Cameron Scott Machen, both of Tallulah; two stepbrothers, Bill Machen of Tallulah and Len Machen of Start, La.; and her grandparents, Gloria Arender and Billy R. Arender, both of Tallulah.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church of Tallulah with the Rev. John Rushing officiating. Burial will follow at Silver Cross Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 until 8 p.m. Wednesday at Crothers-Glenwood Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Mike Wicker, Vince Stutts, Eric Holloway, Billy White, Ted Hill and Michael Cummins.

Honorary pallbearers will be Arch Yerger, Ryan Mills, Ed Mills, Ben Arnold and Benji Brooks.
