BRENDA MARIE GARRETT
Services for Brenda Marie Garrett were at 11 a.m. today at Travelers Rest Church with the Rev. Thomas Benard officiating.
Ms. Garrett died Friday, July 19, 2002, at University Medical Center in Jackson. She was 44.
Ms. Garrett was preceded in death by her father, Ernest Garrett Sr.; two brothers, Michael Garrett and Kenneth Carl Garrett; her maternal grandparents, Lawerence Albert and Leona Newton; and her paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Garrett.
Survivors include one daughter, Sherita Garrett Butler of Vicksburg; her mother, Vera Lee Garrett Dixon of Vicksburg; her stepfather, Leon Dixon of Vicksburg; two sisters, Theresa Lattimore Hargro and Patricia Garrett Gilmore, both of Jackson; four brothers, Ernest Garrett of Port Gibson, Tommy Lee Garrett of Dallas, Paul Garrett of Alabama and Curtis Garrett of Fayette; and other relatives.
Williams Funeral Service has charge of the arrangements.
ELSIE M. GIBSON
FAYETTE Elsie M. Gibson died Monday, July 22, 2002, at Mississippi Baptist Medical Center in Jackson. She was 65.
Ms. Gibson was born in Jefferson County and lived in Gary, Ind., for a number of years before returning to Fayette. She retired as an auditor with Ball-Foster in Dalton, Ill. She was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church in Lorman and Order of the Eastern Star.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Melodie Latrice Gibson; two sisters; two brothers; and her parents, Jeff Gibson and Mildred Carroll.
Ms. Gibson is survived by a son, Broderick Brooks of Fayette; two brothers, the Rev. Andrew Otis Carroll of Dallas and Irvin Gibson of Romulus, Mich.; two sisters, Theresa Gibson of Romulus and Minnie Tyrus of Inkster, Mich.; five grandchildren; and aunts, uncles, other relatives and friends.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Fellowship Baptist Church with the Rev. Kemp Burley officiating. Burial will follow at Fellowship Cemetery in Lorman.
Visitation will be from noon until 8 p.m. Friday at Rollins Chapel in Fayette.
PERCY LEE GUNTER
OAK GROVE, La. Percy Lee “Bull” Gunter died Tuesday, July 23, 2002, at Carroll Nursing Home in Oak Grove, La. He was 84.
Mr. Gunter was preceded in death by his wife, Malissia Thames Gunter; his parents, Everett and Mitzie Lee Gunter; a brother, I.B. “Sonney” Gunter; and two sisters, Jessie Curry and Mamie Allred.
He is survived by five daughters, Loretta Gilder and Mickey Obennoskey, both of Malvern, Ark., Judy Webb of Monroe, La., Chris Johnson of Darnell, La., and Sandra Huffty of Kilbourne, La.; one son, Sonny Gunter of Oak Grove; six brothers, Jerry Gunter, Johnny Gunter, Doug Gunter, William Gunter, Joe Gunter and David Robertson, all of Oak Grove; four sisters, Joann Carr of Forest, La., Willie Mae Black of Pioneer, La., Nancy Cushing of Watson, La., and Dorthy Lee Hollingsworth of San Jose, Calif.; and 18 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren.
Services were at 10 a.m. today at Cox Chapel in Oak Grove with the Rev. Rick Aultman officiating. Burial followed at New Forest Cemetery in Forest.
BEATRICE HALL
Beatrice Hall died Wednesday, July 24, 2002, at Vicksburg Convalescent Home. She was 84.
Mrs. Hall was retired from Westinghouse and was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Sarah Hanks and Anderson Carter, and two sisters, Martha Norford and Minnie Cry.
Survivors include her son, James Norford of Oakland, Calif.; a daughter, Janie Raymond of Oakland; one brother, Jimmie Cry of Berkeley, Calif.; and other relatives and friends.

FRED J. THOMAS SR.
LORMAN Fred J. Thomas Sr. died Tuesday, July 23, 2002, at his home in Lorman. He was 80.
Mr. Thomas was a member and usher at Beechland M.B. Church. He was a veteran of World War II.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Oliver and Vinnie Thomas, and two sisters, Edna Chambers and Gertrude Whiting.
Survivors include his wife, Ruby Thomas of Lorman; four sons, Fred J. Thomas Jr. and Ricky Thomas, both of Lorman, Barry Thomas of Chicago and Richard Thomas of Jackson; two daughters, Rosie Adams of Jackson and Jacquelyne Smith of Lorman; 16 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Alcorn State University Ballroom with the Rev. Frank McGriggs officiating. Burial will follow at Fellowship Baptist Church Cemetery in Lorman.
Visitation will be from 1 until 6 p.m. Friday at Thompson Funeral Home Inc. of Port Gibson and from 10 a.m. Saturday until the service.
WOODROW WILSON WILLIAMS
OAK GROVE, La. Woodrow Wilson Williams died Tuesday, July 23, 2002, at St. Francis Medical Center in Monroe, La. He was 83.
Mr. Williams was born in Winn Parish and was a resident of Oak Grove, La.
He was preceded in death by a son, James Glen Williams, and his parents, Mary Virginia and Wade Wylie Williams.
He is survived by his wife, Georgia Williams of Oak Grove; a son, Wayne Williams of Tulsa, Okla.; a daughter, Barbara Brown of Kilbourne, La.; and eight grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Macedonia Baptist Church in Oak Grove with the Rev. Mike Howard officiating. Burial will follow at Macedonia Cemetery under the direction of Cox Chapel in Oak Grove.
Pallbearers will be Dennis Townsend, Gary Townsend, Willie Capers, Phil White, Johnny Costello and James Bruce.
Honorary pallbearers will be Darryl Williams, Lancer Williams, Heath Williams, Clay Trimble, Cole Dark, Jessie Kitchens and Jeremy Kitchens.
