Chausse takes over reins of Area 10 Special Olympics

[07/28/02]Vicksburg Warren School District employee Heidi Chausse has taken over as director of Area 10 Special Olympics.

In a meeting Thursday night, 15-year director Nancy Biggers passed the torch to Chausse, who serves in the school district’s Early Education Assessment Case Management and Communication Based Preschool for Exceptional Students and as transition liaison and job coach.

She said she and a team of volunteers will attempt to continue the work of Biggers.

“We have great volunteers and I am very excited, but there is a lot to do,” Chausse said.

In another change, Sandi Sherrill replaced Carol George as assistant director, and Angela Kelley replaced Bob Ogelsby as financial officer.

“I think they are going to be a very energetic and vivacious team that will carry Area 10 to a higher level,” Biggers said.

Biggers said that as a teacher she will still be involved with Special Olympics. She is a special education instructor assign-ed to Beechwood Elementary.
