ROSELLA YOUNG NELSON

Rosella Young Nelson, Vicksburg resident, died Tuesday, July 23, 2002 at Heartland Healthcare Center in Temple, Texas. She was 97.

Mrs. Nelson attended school in Claiborne County and was a homemaker. She was baptized at Mount Zion Baptist Church in Claiborne County and a member of Mount Pisgah Baptist Church where she was on the Mother Board.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Penn Nelson; her parents, Randel Young and Margaret Smith; four brothers; and three sisters.

She is survived by her son, Johnny Lee Nelson of Sacramento, Calif.; three daughters, Mary Younger and Lorene Dotson, both of Vicksburg and Artie Crumpton of Temple; her sister, Malinda Porter of Long Beach, Calif.; 23 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be at noon Thursday at Mount Pisgah Baptist Church with the Rev. Dennis Redden officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 7 until 8 p.m. Monday at Branford/Dawson Funeral Home in Temple and from 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home in Vicksburg.
